Publisher's summary

A woman of great fortune....

Margaret Easton needs a husband, and she needs one now. Her parents are convinced that only a European will do, but Margaret wants nothing more than to stay in England. The trouble is that there is only one man Margaret can think of, or rather, one she cannot forget, and he wouldn’t do as a husband at all. Then she finds herself in his care unexpectedly, and her hunt becomes even more complicated than she could have ever imagined.

A man of great mystery....

Rafe Thornton has never said more than 10 words to Margaret Easton, but she is rapidly becoming the sole occupant of his thoughts. She is distracting him from his operative work as the Gent, and keeps him from his usual focused nature, which he doesn’t mind at all. When she stumbles into his world, his work and his emotions collide, forcing him to choose between saving the Crown, and protecting his love.

Gentle, Strong Love

Suspense and love. A good, clean story and the telling was excellent. A story for teens through nineties to enjoy.

I was excited to listen to this audiobook as this this is a re “read.” It was well done by the narrator and how can you not swoon for the Gent?

Disney Tropes

This book has lots of potential and I am looking forward to other books. That being said, you find yourself wanting to tell the female protagonist to stop being a meek mouse and to let her friends help her. The story pulls from lots of Disney scenes that you may recognize: Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and more.

Captivating - a must read

I both read and listen to many historical romances of varying quality of storytelling and this is one of my all time favorites. The story is gripping, the characters well developed, and the romance a captivating mix of realism and fairytale. The author has a unique way of evoking emotion that drew me in and had me re-listening to this one several times when I am otherwise quick to move on to the next book. I have started the next in the series and am similarly spellbound. I know I will enjoy the entire series as it unfolds. I definitely recommend this series to others who seek well written adventure and romance.

the reviews don't do the story justice lol

did we read the same book? How did no one mention that this is basically a regency, swashbuckler version of Disneys Lady and the tramp lolol the alley rescue scene, the jail scene with the ladies, the breaking into the house, it took notes from the story and I was here for it all. It may just be that I have a soft spot for The Lady and the Tramp story but I loved it so much that I'm actually writing a review.
The ending was a little anticlimactic compared to what has happened in previous chapters, but I could not stop cheesing at the main couple's relationship and moments together. I just could not with those 2, super adorbs! Had me swooning and grinning like crazy. But the scheme revealed towards the end? I was audibly shocked.
I've been bookmarking my favorite scenes and listening to chapters over and over, so much meat on the bone and I was just eating it up. Eager to read more!
