Publisher's summary

A full-length standalone romantic comedy from USA TODAY best-selling author R.S. Grey.

Beau Fortier starred in most of my cringe-worthy teenage fantasies. I met him when I was a junior in high school, a time that revolved exclusively around bad hair, failed forays into flirting, and scientific inquiries into which brand of toilet paper worked best for stuffing bras.

That is, until Beau moved into the small guest house just beyond my bedroom window. A 24-year-old law student at Tulane, Beau was as mysterious to me as second base (both in baseball and in the bedroom). He was older. Intimidating. Hot. Boys my age had chicken legs and chubby cheeks. Beau had calloused hands and a jaw cut from steel.

Our interactions were scarce - mostly involving slight stalking on my end - and yet deep down, I desperately hoped he saw me as more of a potential lover than a lovesick loser. Turns out, I was fooling myself. My fragile ego learned that lesson the hard way.

Now, 10 years later, we're both back in New Orleans, and guess who suddenly can't take his eyes off little ol' me. My old friend, Mr. Fortier. But things have changed. I'm older now - poised and confident. My ego wears a bulletproof vest. The butterflies that once filled my stomach have all perished. When I was a teenager, Beau warned me to guard my heart. Let's hope he knows how to guard his.

A great Romantic Comedy

How fun was this book?! This was a hilarious romantic comedy set in New Orleans that transitions from the past to the present. There is a bit of a forbidden feel when Beau and Lauren initially meet because she is still in high school and he is a twenty odd year old law student. Lauren has a huge crush on Beau and wow is this girl bold. She threw herself at him, quite aggressively I may add but Beau was the perfect gentleman.

The voice of Lauren was ridiculously funny. She was a privileged private school girl with concerns of pool parties and boys sending instant messages to her. The smallest of things were life altering events to her. I don't know why it was so much fun to be inside the head of this teenage girl but it was just so funny! She was quirky and awkward and had such a bubbly personality.

After a huge natural disaster, Lauren and Beau get separated but then reunite when Lauren moves back home 10 years later. Now with no barriers, Beau is focused on pursuing Lauren. The voice of Beau was smooth, with full on southern charm. He was sexy and completely swoon worthy! He has also come a long way and achieved so much as a successful lawyer and businessman. Lauren feels slightly burned from his apparent lack of interest years ago and tries to resist his charms but it's futile and she knows it. There were a few great moments of sexiness and their chemistry was palpable.

This was a great love story with huge LOL moments that had me constantly laughing or smiling while listening to this book. A great fun read!

squeeeee JOE ARDEN

Joe Arden is fast becoming one of my favorite narrators! And this is the second book he's done with R.S. Grey, so I knew I needed to get it right away. Perfect pairing. Luci Christian's narration is good too, especially in this book where she had to be "highschool age" for the first bit and then an adult later on. She has good comedic timing as well!

The story itself was exactly what I expect from an R.S. Grey book: funny, sweet, sexy, and did I mention funny? She seriously always has be lol-ing. This is why I particularly like listening to her audios; because I walk around like a grinning lunatic, bursting into random laughter around silent strangers. It's perfect.

Beau and Lauren's love felt so real! I can really relate to being an awkward AF teenager with an inappropriate crush on an older guy. I liked that she didn't go taboo and cross any lines there; the time jump allowed both characters to mature and change a bit, too. A much as I identified with Lauren, I just friggin LOVED Beau. Like, for real, does this man exist somewhere out in the wild? Because I would like to find him. Next book-boyfriend for sure.

Well Let’s See..

So the narration was great. Joe Arden has a totally sexy, I could listen to him read the phonebook kind of voice. Luci Christian has an adorable voice and their banter along with her cuteness works well for a story about a young girl/grown up girl’s crush. The actual STORY, however, well it was cute enough, I guess, but it left me a little wanting, I guess. The sex scenes were mediocre at best and very anticlimactic, no pun intended. It got a bit hard to take at times with Lauren’s lack of self esteem, holding back for so long crap, and could have been maybe 5 chapters shorter. It wasn’t a bad book, I did finish it, but it won’t make it on my, “boy I really loved this one” list. I just don’t get all the rave reviews and trust me, I’m a total romance story kind of girl.

Aggressor on the Rise

This story paints the male lead as a controlling aggressor and the female lead as an insecure ditz who is incapable of making her own decisions.

Could have been great...

I feel like I was waiting the whole story for it to get good... there was no back and forth in the present day, no conflict or anything.

It had the makings to be a good romance, but I think it missed the mark.

Dissappointed

This book was a disappointment. It started off great but the heroine Lauren's inner monologs ruined it. She never grew up from the first half of the book and the childish silly behavior just continued thru out the entire book. I couldn't connect with such a childish character and to imagine her with such an Alpha like Beau didn't make sense. The book had to much Lauren inner monologs and not enough of Beau's. His background and family history behind why he is who he is was not fully formed in the book. It only skimmed the surface of him. Lost interest in their connection when the Lauren inner monologs chapter. Beau didn't have enough of a voice in the book to keep it interesting for me.

Cute but Way too long.

It was a cute story but it dragged on and on. The female voice was annoying at times.

Slow burn - witty banter

Lauren is a funny character who tends to blurt out everything in one quick breath. She loved Beau when she was 17 but he was too old.
Now back home 10 years later he’s pursing her and it scares her. She fumbles her way around, even almost burning down her home.
There are a lot of funny scenes and eventually some hotter ones
Luci Christian and Joe Ardens narration is top notch.
