Publisher's Summary

One summer is all they have....

Lance is a notorious player on and off the football field who never sees a girl more than twice. But with graduation now behind him, his days of care-free flirting are numbered. As soon as his summer internship is over, his parents expect him to return to Texas to take his place in the family business. He's done everything he can to delay the inevitable, and he's determined to live it up his last summer as his own man.

Abby comes from a world where men don't stick around. Lance's interest does nothing but put her on guard, especially when she finds out he'll be leaving in less than two months. With two years left of college and a mom who relies on her for everything, Abby doesn't have the patience for relationships that are doomed from the start. But Lance's persistence wears down her defenses. Abby convinces herself they'll just have a summer fling, and she'll be able to come through unscathed.

Will Abby be able to maintain her distance? Or will they both be heartbroken when the summer ends?

It's just a fling

So, yeah, I liked this more than I thought I would. Not sure why I hesitated, but I did. However, I'm really glad I gave this a listen.

I enjoyed the story of Lance and Abby. In many ways it's your typical "player finds the one and loses his player ways" kind of book. In other ways, it isn't that at all. You never see Lance as a player. You hear about it, but you never witness it. The only girl you see him with is Abby. I love that about this. And really, she has more issues than he does.

Quick listen and as usual Tor Thom and Charley Ongel are fabulous. They're one of the few narrating duos I absolutely love listening to. I seek out there work and am never disappointed.

Grab Summer Fling if you're looking for a quick, light read. I think you'll enjoy it.

Quick, sweet read!

Abby meets Lance at a house party, when she sloshes her drink on him...they hit it off...sort of, since Abby is a bit prickly. After a couple of date/non-dates, her roommate tells her that Lance is known around campus for a 2-date limit and Abby tries to push him away. Lance really likes the prickly girl and pursues her, even though he's moving back home to TX in 2 months and she has 2 more years of college. The pair decide to date through the summer and grow close. Not too much drama...Abby's mom suffers from severe anxiety, but no ex-gf drama. Sweet epilogue and I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest of the friends in other books. As always, great narration team that keeps you engaged in the story.

Sweet New Adult Romance

Not every having read a Jerica MacMillan novel, I did not know what to expect when I began listening to this book. I loved this story. The budding romance of Lance and Abby is sweet and romantic. The real world issues and obligations of both characters is seamlessly interwoven into their relationship, giving the story depth and credibility. While at times, the stubbornness of Abby was frustrating, I loved how Lance was able to win her heart. The supporting characters of Megan, Matt and Chris all lend that college feel of lifetime bonding friendship that you know are formed during that period of life. MacMillan has a way of giving the story a little angst, and keeping your heart open to possibilities that are unexpected. Her choice of narrators for this story is spot on. The duet narration of Charley Ongel and Tor Thom is always a treat, but when given characters like these to portray, they light up your earbuds. The passion of young adults is strong, and these two give it that magic.

Enjoyable

This is only the second audio book I have listened to with this unique way of doing it. It was an enjoyable listen even if the story got a little redundant about Lance leaving.
