Publisher's summary

Troy Alexander is sex on a stick and every girl’s dream at John Rushmore University. He’s also the bane of my existence.

Our meet-cute wasn’t exactly cute. He called me a nerd, and I accused him of slacking off on the field. Now, we have to live together.

I’m supposed to try to play nice to keep a roof over my head. Not in my nature. Our arrangement could be a living hell, but slowly, I realize the worst thing he ever did wasn’t calling me names. It was making me see there’s more to him under the surface. And now, I’m screwed.

Heart Stopper is an enemies-to-lovers college sports stand-alone romance filled with banter, pranks, and off-the-charts chemistry that will make you swoon.

Enjoyed

This was a really good book for the most part. I enjoyed Troy and Charlie’s story. Two gripes…when you have to look up LARPing right off the bat, you wonder if you might be reading the wrong book. That’s taking nerdy to a whole new level. To each their own but can’t we just have a story about a run of the mill nerd? Also, I would have loved an epilogue even if it didn’t go too far in the future. Otherwise, great listen. Wonderful narration!!

Great Book

I purchased the audiobook solely for the narrator’s. I listened to another book that they narrated together previously and was amazed. This book ended up being great! Short, but great. I wish we got to know the characters on an even deeper level. But overall, great writing and narrating. I’ll be listening to the other books in the series.

Prank wars, LARPing, and Supernatural marathons!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narrator: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😎☺️🙃😚

The heroine: Charlie Fontaine - works on the Rushmore college newspaper with her best friend Blake, whom she dated in high school. They work much better as best friends since there was no chemistry between them. She is big into LARPing with her friends and younger brother.

The Hero: Troy Alexander - quarterback of the Rushmore Rebels, he feels responsible for the death of his brother and is focused on protecting his shy sister Jane from his mother who tends to break her down whenever she talks to Jane. Troy’s head just hasn’t been in the game lately and his performance on the field has suffered.

The Story: When Charlie is sent to interview Troy for the paper, she asks the tough questions. Troy isn’t about to tell her his real reasons for not playing up to his usual standards, and walks out on the interview. Charlie hands in a scathing interview and the prank wars begin from there.

Teddy Hamilton and Michelle Sparks do the narration on this book that is told in dual points of view via dual narration. Teddy Hamilton is a terrific narrator who shows emotion and sarcasm well through his gravelly voice. Michelle Sparks has a clear feminine, youthful sounding voice which matches the spunky Charlie very well.

I liked that both of these characters care about their siblings, grandparents and friends so much. That makes you like them from the start, despite their actions toward each other which are not the nicest. The romance is good, the pranks are fun and the book is steamy in parts but not too smutty. This was a fun new adult sports romance.

Cute story and loved the humor

This was a unique version of nerd and jock. I loved both main characters and honestly had several laugh out loud moments which aren't super common in the books I've been reading lately. I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and well written and I was thankful there was no cheating. It was also nice for the male lead to not be a complete manw*ore which is the case in almost all these style books; it was refreshing. The narrator's did an excellent job and really kept my attention. I would recommend this book.

wow

the narration was pure perfection!!! I loved how you had a male/female voice speaking when it was their turn to talk instead of that narrator's chapter trying to alter their voice for the other character!!!!! the narration was seriously flawless!

Meh

Okay story but some of the dialogue made it cringe worthy. Not bad, but wouldn’t continue the series.

Immature and mysogenistic - DNF

I LOVE duet narration, so I was excited to find this audiobook. I was QUICKLY let down by the dialogue. There are MANY MANY ways to express displeasure about a person, regardless of their sex, and I'm all for explicit language but the name calling and the gross way the MMC lusted after the MFC in his mind. Ugh. Just awful and sooooo immature, more middle school than new adult for sure. If you like good dialogue, characters who act their age, and steam without a side of perv, this is NOT the book for you. NOT worth the credit!!

a little predictable but enjoyable

This was an enjoyable listen. Both narrators did a very good job. a few times the delivery of the lines didn't match the description (i.e. says he Whispered something but narrator didn't whisper) but otherwise very good performances.
this is an enemies to lovers college romance. The side characters really shined in this. From the grandmother to the best friend, you have very dynamic characters that kept the story interesting. I did find it a bit predictable at times. it was easy to see the conflicts about to happen and the drama that would unfold, but I still enjoyed listening to it.
