Publisher's Summary

She hates to lose....

Competitive barista Brenna Kinkaid loves a challenge, and she'll do whatever it takes to win, especially when it comes to her nemesis, Dante Caravicci. But when forced to team up to save their best friends' wedding, Brenna recognizes that Dante might just be her ultimate win.

He plays to win....

Restaurateur Dante Caravicci won't quit anything until he can claim success. He's bided his time, but he's used to taking big risks and surviving, so he figures he's got nothing to lose by playing for Brenna.

Hearts at risk....

These two fall fast, and it looks like a win-win - until a competition pits them head-to-head, and one of them goes way too far. A nudge from an improbable source may be the only way these two competitors will ever admit that the only way to win is to lose their hearts.

Love to Win is the third book in the Fireflies series. Books one and two, Love Built to Last and Love to Believe, are available now!

Love Wins! 🌼

The Fireflies series is a wonderful love journey that does not disappoint. Each book can stand alone but I recommend starting with the first book so you don't miss some poignant scenes and foundational character development.

This third book features Brenna and Dante. Their love hate relationship and bantering actually begins in book one but blossoms in this book. It is a well written story that is filled with romance, wonderful scenes and delightful characters. There is some swearing (but not a lot) and has non detailed sexual encounters. A winner for adult readers!

Pam Dougherty's narration is a consistently wonderful. She gives each voice a unique quality which adds dimension to the story. A favorite narrator for sure! 🌸

Great Story

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, via Audiobook Boom, and have voluntarily left this review."
I did not listen to the first two books but did not lose anything in listening to this one. The entire story was well developed and I loved the many plot twist incorporated into the story. The back story of the hero was very well told and was sprinkled throughout so you got a little here and a little there to help round out his character. The secondary characters were great and fit seamlessly into the story. the HEA was great and the interactions between the main characters were not so far-fetched that it was unbelievable. There was just enough tension that kept interest but not trite. The narrator was very good and helped make the story move along. I wish that I had the other books in my library now. Will listen to more by this author.

Great Addition to the Fireflies Series!

This is the third book in the fireflies series. I have enjoyed the previous books and would encourage anyone to start with book 1 even though they can be read as a standalone. You don’t want to miss any of them!

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

I had heard Brenna’s distaste for Donte on the last book and kind of hoped they would end up together. Poor Donte, he is a very decent guy, but Brenna has judged him from the moment they met. It seems Donte can’t do anything right in Brenna’s eyes...

I’m so glad there are no cliffhangers in these books and you get to see how the previous main characters are doing. Their story continues in the background.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by this talented author. Her stories are page turners and I get totally immersed in her stories.

Another wonderful story in the Fireflies series!

I originally reviewed this story when it was first released as an ebook and I'll paste that review below. The only thing I can really add about the audio copy is how absolutely wonderful I think the performance by Pam Dougherty is. She is not narrating this story - she is giving a performance that is absolutely captivating.

Even though I read this book nearly 2 years ago, I was totally immersed in the story all over again while listening to it. Usually I don't have to pay as much attention when I listen to a book that I've already read but that wasn't the case with Love to Win; the audio was simply too good to not pay close attention. If something did cause my attention to drift away, I had to rewind the book to listen to what I missed!

I also have to tell you that my hubby and I often listen to audio books when we are in the car. Sometimes he's OK with my selection and sometimes he's "meh" about what I pick. He was as captivated by Love to Win as I was to the extent that he wanted to continue listening when we got home.

Below is my review from when the ebook was released:

Love to Win is the third book in the Fireflies series but it is a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger. This is such a wonderful book and series that I highly recommend starting with the first two, especially if you like to read series in order. You won’t feel lost, however, if you just want to start with Love to Win. Each book centers around a specific couple and the previous couples, along with other secondary characters, appear in all of the stories. I devoured this book, as I did the first two, and I think this might be my favorite of the three stories.

Brenna and Dante always seem to be at odds with each other and she just doesn’t care for him; she calls him the “Neanderthal.” They live next door to each other and it seems that anything Dante does irritates Brenna to no end. Both of them are very competitive and they are pitted against each other in a fund raising contest to help their town hire a police officer. For one of the Truth or Dare challenges they have to kiss and, much as she wants to, Brenna doesn’t hate it.

Brenna and Dante are forced to work together to save the day when disaster strikes at their best friends’ wedding. When Dante performs a heroic action Brenna begins to soften and decides that she may have been mistaken about him for all these years.

This book made me smile and laugh and cry big, fat, ugly tears – always my favorite kind of story. Dante is any woman’s dream come true – he cooks, he cleans and he’s kind to people and animals. As Brenna learns more about him she can’t help but change her feelings and ends up falling head over heels in love with him. With both Dante and Brenna finally on the same page their love grows stronger until Brenna makes a stupid mistake that Dante can’t forgive.

Dante’s reaction to Brenna’s “mistake” seems way over the top until we learn more about his past. I still wanted to shake him at times and tell him to wake up before he loses Brenna for good. Fortunately, Brenna isn’t a quitter and she’s prepared to fight for her man. This conflict between the two was heartbreaking but it was also wonderful to see it resolved.

The sexual tension in this book is delicious but not explicit and the use of four letter words is minimal – kind of refreshing. I would not label this as “sweet” but it’s also one that I would not hesitate to recommend to just about anyone who loves a good romance.

Ms. Claro’s writing just flows and her descriptive prose kept me glued to my ereader. I was not happy when I had to put the book aside for a bit to attend to family matters. When I picked it up again I didn’t stop reading until I finished it at 3:40 a.m. Thank goodness I’m retired and I didn’t have to go to work later that morning.

I think the Fireflies series could easily spawn several other books, much like the Lucky Harbor stories from Jill Shalvis or the Fools Gold series by Susan Mallery. For my money Ms. Claro’s writing is every bit as rich and satisfying as those two authors whose work I also love.
