Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Diane Chamberlain delivers a thrilling, mind-bending audiobook about one mother's journey to save her child.

When Carly Sears, a young woman widowed by the Vietnam War, receives the news that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect, she is devastated. It is 1970, and she is told nothing can be done to help her child. But her brother-in-law, a physicist with a mysterious past, tells her that perhaps there is a way to save her baby.

What he suggests is something that will shatter every preconceived notion Carly has. Something that will require a kind of strength and courage she never knew existed. Something that will mean an unimaginable leap of faith on Carly's part.

And all for the love of her unborn child.

The Dream Daughter is a rich, genre-spanning, breathtaking audiobook about one mother's quest to save her child, unite her family, and believe in the unbelievable. Diane Chamberlain pushes the boundaries of faith and science to deliver a story that listeners will never forget.

So I never read synopsis before starting a new book. I feel like I lose a little something when I go into a book with expectations. This book was the perfect example for me of why I don't. I can't say I would have picked this one up if I had known it was very different from this authors other books. I have fallen in love with this author over the past month, listening to over 15 of her books so when this one released I knew I needed it and I'll be honest I just assumed it would be like her other books... it's not!

This book is filled with suspense and It's very fast paced. Carly is a women who will do anything to give her child a fighting chance. She is a very strong character but I will admit being in her head was sometimes a little annoying. I loved the details in this book which you will understand when you read it. The ending was beautiful and exactly what I wanted from this story.

The narration was good. Susan Bennett is a great narrator and she did a great job at the high stress, anxious and panic moments for Carly.

Not what I was expecting.

The book description on this title is very vague and doesn’t really tell you about the story you’re getting into. I think, had I read a better fitting description, I might have passed by this gem. If you’re a fan of Diane Chamberlain I can’t recommend this enough. You might have to get a few chapters in to really get the groove of this book, but it’s worth hanging in for. A well told story for people that don’t mind using their imagination while reading, a solid reading by Susan Bennett, and finally an ending I don’t have any complaints about. Let the story surprise you, it’ll be worth your while.

OMG, best book i have listened to in a long time.

Very well written book full of ups and downs. Narrator was perfect. Especially like that this book contained no sex scenes and it is now one of my top 2 favorite books.

Wow!

I've read some of Diane Chamberlain's novels and liked some of them and didn't care for others. After reading the great reviews for The Dream Daughter I thought I'd give this a try. Wow! Now this is a book that keeps you wanting to listen every chance you possibly can! Not sure what made her write something so different but I LOVE it!

One of the best I’ve ever read!

I have read almost all of Diane Chamberlain’s books. This one I enjoyed particularly for the complex plot that was woven in and out through the different time periods. I also loved the way that you feel Carly’s angst in the choices that she has to make and the lack of control she has. Every little twist was covered so well!!!! I really recommend this book!

I think this book just got me out of a rut!

I must have tried 20 audiobooks. I couldn’t finish one. Then without even reading what this was about I tried it. I absolutely loved it. Please don’t pass on this one. It’s so moving and the narration is simply perfect. Reese Witherspoon should pick this one for her book group. Highly highly recommended!

What a great story

From the narrator to the Author, this was an amazing story. Although it’s different for Diane Chamberlain it was one of her best works. You can tell a good Author if he or she doesn’t need sex or swearing to make her story believable. The narrator was very good and her inflection and timing were perfect.

Every second is pure perfections

This book had me from the first word and there were not a boring moment. I felt as if I lived the story and I did not want it to end. The ending was as well crafted as the rest. One of the best this year!

I love Diane Chamberlain books. I love time travel books. The fact that Ms Chamberlain wrote a book involving time travel just blew me away. My only wish is that I could listen it again for the first time.#newfavoritebook #couldn'tstoplistening #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Captures the depth of a mother's love

A heartbreakingly beautiful story. I cried so many times. Chamberlain captures the pure essence of a mother's love and devotion to her child. And, as always, Susan Bennett delivers a perfect and convincing narration. I've said it before....Susan Bennett should be every author's dream narrator as she is the one who breathes life into every single story she presents. She is my absolute favorite and I will usually choose an audiobook solely because she is the narrator.

The story itself is amazing as well. I hope Diane Chamberlain will write sequels to this book!!

Stunning subject matter

I adored the narration and imagery of this book. The subject matter made me groan a bit when I heard what it was, but yet again Diane Chamberlain reeled me in and I was lost in the story. You never know what this writer will do next. Amazing.
