Great!

Wow! This was a fantastic story that had me hooked from the start! Great narration! I can't wait for book 2!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The fact that I was gifted this book had no influence over my opinion of it.

It Drew Me In and Kept Me Hooked

I really enjoyed this story, Lucy is on a night out with her new room-mate on her first night at her new college. They go to a very upscale club owned by Asher Black. Whilst she's there she meets Asher but doesn't know she has, to her he is "blue eyes", he's sexy and oh so gorgeous.

If you have read the 'blurb' you will know the gist of this story but what the blurb won't tell you is that this book has a compelling storyline. Asher is a bad guy, a member of the mafia and yet he is the hero of this book. He's a stone cold killer but I couldn't help liking him. The combination of a college student and a mafia fixer together seemed a little off at first but as I listened I found they were perfect together.

The storyline is very good and really drew me in, I really couldn't stop listening to this book, I just had to find out what was going to happen. I can't say a lot more about the storyline without giving too much away and spoiling the book for you but I can tell you there were so many facets to the story I was hooked. Lucy and Asher grew into their relationship and it changed both of them for the better in my opinion.

I listen to a lot of audio books and sometimes the story can be good but the narrator can leave me a little disappointed or vice versa but in this case both the book and the narration were excellent. I hadn't read or listened to anything by this author and as this is book one in a series I will be looking out for the rest of the books. I hope they are read by Lacy Laurel because her performance was excellent, she hit every character just right.

Great Listen!

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Asher and Lucy was good and it kept me involved and interested in the story throughout the book. The way that the two main characters meet is pretty common but the fact that Asher is supposed to get rid of Lucy but decides to keep her instead makes the story interesting and sucks you in. Asher is a dominate take charge man and he has no problem telling Lucy what she is going to do. Lucy is a strong willed independent woman. They mix well together and the story will hold your interest. The narrator did a good job too, she didn't distract from the story at all. Her reading was smooth and flowed really well through the book.

I was provided a copy of this book free at my request in exchange for my unbiased review.

Amazing !

I liked this book so much. This was my first Parker S. Huntington's book and I can't wait to read/listen the second book in the Series or any book she'll write! As I understand, this is her first book. Amazing! The official Asher Black Audiobook Trailer is also very good, do you see it? This book is about the story of Asher and Lucy. The two of them are so attractive. The story is captivating and very well written. The narration is so great. This is my first listen to Lacy Laurel and I really appreciate her voice. She has the perfect voice for this narration. This is a perfect match story / narration!

Suspension of disbelief is helpful

A hitman has targeted a naïve college student who accidentally called the police? Her only way out is to pretend she’s his fiancée?

This is a creative if not slightly implausible plot. There are many Alpha-billionaire-fist fighting-mafia romances these days and, at times, it can be a little much. The question is – how can an author and book differentiate themselves from the pack?

Parker S. Huntington certainly tries. Lucy Ives is not a meek heroine. She’s survived a horrific childhood and has done charity work in foreign countries before entering college in New York as a sophomore. She’s living in residence with another sophomore. Amy is tall, beautiful, and loyal.

The women go out to a nightclub and while Amy meets a cute guy, Lucy glimpses the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. Cue hot meet-up, misunderstandings galore, and a college co-ed now believing the mafia is going to send a hitman to kill her.

It sounds a little over-the-top, but it isn’t written that way. Lucy is a relatable character and Asher Black, the 25-year-old billionaire who is involved in the mafia, has more depth than I might have anticipated.

As I try to summarize both the book and my feelings about it, I am myself conflicted. I enjoyed the book but it was, at time, really over the top. And because I didn’t take the book seriously, I enjoyed it. Strange but true.

I like Lucy because she’s feisty and refuses to be walked over. She stands up for what’s right and is loyal. She even intervenes so no harm comes to someone she really dislikes.

Lacy Laurel is the narrator and she is improving with every book she narrates. If she does the next book in the series, I will probably listen. My only true complaint is her French. I understand it is challenging to speak another language, but this was incomprehensible. Fortunately, there were just a few lines, which are translated in the story.

Despite how unrealistic this book was, the secondary characters who are to be the main couple in the next book are intriguing to me and I want to discover out how they navigate this shady (and insane) world.
