Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Parker S. Huntington comes an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn romance full of revenge and a dash of fate.

"She could enjoy her pretty, perfect world a little longer. Soon enough, everything she owned would be mine."

I had a plan to escape the friend zone. Step one: sneak into Reed’s room. Step two: sleep with him.

But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw. These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much-older brother.

Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. I’m no longer the town’s prized princess. At 22, I’m broke, in need of a job. At 32, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge. Who cares if my family ruined his? Who cares if he looks at me with pure loathing? Who cares if every task he assigns me is designed to torture? I need the money. Simple as that. I’ll suffer his cruelty in silence, knowing there’s one thing he wants more than revenge. Me.

Please note: This is a full-length stand-alone novel in the Cruel Crown world.

Emery & Nash

I have been waiting to meet Nash Prescott and the it was totally worth the wait. This book, the first in the Cruel Crown series is so good, it will keep up to finish the listen! This enemies to lovers story is not your typical listen. It's fresh, original and oh, so sexy. Emery is down and out after her father's reputation is tarnished. Now believing her trust fund is tainted, she is set on making it on her own, It's not easy, so taking a job with her best friend's brother is a last resort. When Nash realizes the daughter of the man who ruined his family's life is now working for him, the one that accidentally landed in his bed 4 years earlier, he is determined to make her life miserable. But what these two don't know is how their journey will go. Huntington is a master at suspense, intrigue and romance. There are twists and turns in this that are surprising and so well written, I just could not stop listening. Smart and sexy is how I would best describe it and some humor to lighten the mood at times that will make you spit out your drink! I am hooked again, and can't wait for more.

Sebastian York and Desireé Ketchum are cast so well, you would think they actually are Nash and Em. York has that edge to his voice for this darker, alpha, full of venom when necessary and can turn the charm on in the next breath. Ketchum feels the essence of Emery, with her need to be separated from her family and find her independence. She has attitude and fiery passion flowing through her voice. This is an amazing team and makes this an amazing listen.

Adored

Let me start off with this.
My absolute favorite part of Huntington’s books is that she doesn’t try to cram everything into one trope, and that’s all you get. It’s more so different vibes from different tropes.
So in this case, we have the enemies to lover, the brothers best friend, and a little bit of billionaire. It’s like a recipe, with a dash of this, and a pinch of this, and a spoon of this, just to make things interesting, and it’s a success.

Ok. Anyways. Onto the actual story, right guys?

So I devoured this. Like started reading last night, and then I couldn’t put it down until it was over, which was somewhere between 2-3 am for me.

I have so many feelings about this book. It’s one for the logophiles, one for the pluviophile, one for the bibliophile, and on top of that, I listened to the playlist as I was reading....

‘𝐼’𝒹 𝒷𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝒷𝑜𝓇𝓃 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝒶 𝓈𝓅𝒾𝓃𝑒, 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝐼 𝒻𝓊𝓁𝓁𝓎 𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝒹𝑒𝒹 𝑜𝓃 𝓊𝓈𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒾𝓉. 𝐹𝓁𝑜𝓌𝑒𝓇𝓈 𝓌𝒾𝓁𝓉𝑒𝒹. 𝒢𝒾𝓇𝓁𝓈 𝒹𝒾𝒹𝓃’𝓉.’

Emery, with her quirks, and her love of fashion without the outward appearance of such, and her beautiful heart hit me so deep. She now shares the #1 spot of Huntington’s heroines with Lucy(Asher Black).

And then, there was Nash. Excuse me while I swoon for this bad man with the heart of gold. The poor fighting boy, all grown up, with tons to show for this life, and still so very little happiness.

‘𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩.‘

I mean, seriously. The men in real life are severely slacking(excuse me while I go threaten my husband to write me pretty words 😉)

Overall: I highly recommend this read to everyone. Don’t be surprised if you see me singing it’s praises all over the place. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So Much Fun!

This is the very first audiobook that I listen to that was written by Parker S. Huntington. I have to say that I enjoyed it very much. I loved the camaraderie between Nash and Emery. I laughed so much, and thought their chemistry worked well. I love the spunkiness of Emery and how she never let Nash‘s actions phase her. It was just fun all around and it didn’t drag out with a lot of drama. The characters were well performed by Sebastian and Desiree. I’ve heard many books by Sebastian, but this is the first time I’ve listen to something in which Desiree was the narrator. I have to say she did a great job and I look forward to hearing more of her work.

There’s a cute part in the story where Emery is listening to an audiobook that is performed by Sebastian York, and she tells Nash that he sounds just like him.

“What does he sound like?” “
“I just literally said he sounds like you.”

I have to wonder if the writer had Sebastian in mind as she wrote this book. She even had a few shout outs to some other famous authors in this genre.

I totally listen to this again in the future.

overlong but otherwise good slow burn romance

narrator's are good they have York . The story is good just over long and too many big words. I understand that's Emery's quick but it kind of annoyed me. I felt like the story could of been brought down from 15hr listen to 8hr.

Amazing Story

This is one of the First story's I have listened to by this Author; besides Asher Black. Between the two I felt like this story had a better story development and just was all together really well written. And Sebastian York by far was the best choice for the story! I now look forward to the rest of the easy listening this Author has created.

Deep characters, great story and great performances, by both narrators. Kept me entertained the entire time.

A story that grabs your heart

This was a story that spanned time. Had many levels of their relationship that evolved in so many ways. It was a slow satisfying burn that warms you to the core by the end. My only complaint was female narrator misprouncing one characters name the entire time. Sebastian was awesome as always!
