Publisher's Summary

Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.

    "Patricia Briggs... Enough said."

Great series. I love Anna and Charles and the Mercy Thompson/ Alpha & Omega worlds. Honestly anything that Patricia Briggs writes I will buy, she is an excellent writer.

Holter Graham is my favorite narrator based on his work on this series. This novella first appeared in "On the prowl" and honestly was the only part of that novel that was worth reading. I was glad when she chose to sell this story individually. Although it is not necessary for you to read Mercy Thompson or this novella before reading Cry Wolf, it does help in understanding the overall plot.

Not very long so I would just buy and save your credit, but definitely worth a purchase.

"I love the Alpha and Omega series"

this series puts a human spin on the legend of lycanthropy and werewolves. it is a story with a damsel in distress and a knight in shining armor. there is action enough in the story, but the focus is on the lives of a man whose occupation forces him to live isolated from everyone except his family, and a young woman who has been brutalized in a way that makes life unbearable and love a seeming impossibility.

    "Loved It!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Patricia Briggs introduces the reader to the world of werewolves through the humanity first and that endeared me to Charles and Anna. He is a fierce and dominant werewolf yet he is confused by his strong feelings for her and she for him. I loved that she got answers from him about the mating bond and solved the problem.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alpha and Omega?

I really enjoyed the part where Charles was in wolf-form after being injured and the Marrok phoned and spoke with Anna. At this point the Marrok knew that Charles had been shot with silver bullets and he should have been reacting in a rage, but he was laying there quietly with Anna. Then Anna explained so hesitantly that Charles' wolf had chosen her as a mate (after only meeting her a few hours before). The Marrok, who is Charles' father, paused and then laughed so quietly and announced that Charles' brother was going to tease him unmercifully for this. It was just so sweet because the Marrok is the most powerful werewolf of all of them and he was so gentle and nice to Anna.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am a devout and loyal fan of Holter Graham. I check what he is reading and get quite a few of my books from his picks. That is how I found this series and how I stumbled on Sherilyn Kenyon. The narrator is one of the most important parts of the audio book. If the narrator is off, it doesn't matter how good the book is, I can't listen to the voice. Holter Graham is my absolute favorite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did have an extreme reaction to this book. The book was a very short one - a Novella - but it was one of those stories where the underdog - Anna - was rescued - and as if that wasn't enough - there was the sensual aspect, then Charles going through the inability to understand how to approach his feelings for Anna. From there, we were privy to Anna's perspective and her agony of whether Charles liked her or not and how she felt about him. I loved that. Oh, did I mention I am a girl? Just a sucker for this stuff. So I listened to the rest of the series and it was just wonderful!

    Any additional comments?

I really recommend this entire series, starting with the Novella because there is a great deal of action, tension, humanity, werewolfy stuff, and it all blends together and it doesn't get crazy. It just works.

    "Not happy"

This novella cost something like $20 for 2 hrs and 25 mins but reviews mentioned that it was important for background information before Cry Wolf so with difficulty I used a credit for it... THERE IS NOTHING NEW IN THIS THAT WASN'T ALREADY TOLD IN CRY WOLF. So, why did I just have to pay a credit (or spend $20!!) on something contained in the first book???

"Love it more each time I hear it!"

I love the Charles and Anna adventures, especially when they first met. This is a MUST READ before any of the Alpha and Omega books by Patricia Briggs. It's short but packed full of useful information you will need later while reading the next books. Please don't stop writing this series!!!!

"I adore this book, and series."
Where does Alpha and Omega rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have listened to this book around 30 times so I would say it is probably my favourite.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Charles, how as an extremely alpha werewolf he can still be gentle and careful with Anna, especially after what she has been through.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

    The restaurant scene.

    Any additional comments?

My only wish is that Audible could get both the whole series of Charles and Anna, and the Mercy books. I prefer to read/listen to a series in order so I would rather not buy Mercy's 8th audiobook until the rest are available.

    "The Prequel to 'Cry Wolf'"

Patricia Briggs is up there with Charlaine Harris, and maybe surpasses her, among my favourite urban fantasy writers. This novella acts as a direct prequel (and acts more like a hidden chapter one) to 'Cry Wolf' the first true novel in the series, and I'd certainly recommend listening to it before starting the main series - although since they're not on Audible you'll be stuck with the dead tree/kindle editions. The narration is passable, no more, but the story is good enough to make up for it, showing the meeting between Anna and Charles - and also some extra context to the slightly convoluted events of 'Moon Called' - the first Mercy Thompson book by the same author.

Where does Alpha and Omega rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    It ranks near the top.

What did you like best about this story?

The visual imagery I got from the good narration.

What does Holter Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

A more emotional response to the story

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    Yes.

    Any additional comments?

I bought this to compare it to the print book and was pleased that I did as it was so well done and now I can listen to it any time I want instead of reading the book until it falls apart.

"Excellent introduction to a great series of books!"

I have read all Patricia Brigg's Werewolf books and am delighted to see this novella available from audible UK. I really hope all her books become available on this site. Great story and I really enjoyed Holter Graham's narration. If you are not planning to follow the series this may not be a book for you.

Very enjoyable, most of the voices were clearly identifiable - it is very short, but I knew that already. Shame there aren't any of the other Alpha and Omega books available.
