Publisher's Summary

Ask Kennedi Mason and she'll say she and her husband, Blake, have a good marriage. That's why she can't wait to tell Blake the fabulous news - that something he's always wanted has finally happened. But when Blake arrives home that evening, he has an announcement of his own, one that shocks Kennedi into silence.

A poignant and witty story of hope and perception, expectation and illusion, One in a Million beautifully shows us that sometimes what we think we have and what we think we want aren't real at all.

I had to look up the narrator

This is clearly a book with African American characters but the reader sound like she was giving a presentation for the Nobel Prize. And her speech was so slow because she had to slowly pronounce every single syllable. I mean just say Morton’s (steakhouse), not “Moor..tons”. So annoying.

Also, I was ready for the story to end. It was so much extra that was not important to the story.

Couldn't wait for it to end

What would have made One in a Million better?

Better Dialogue, a more believable timeline and a less idiotic wife

What was most disappointing about Kimberla Lawson Roby’s story?

The entire way that the story unfolded was not believable and the conversations...would never happen

Which character – as performed by Nehassaiu deGannes – was your favorite?

Patrice. Although I couldn't stand any of them

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was a good story line in theory, it just wasn't executed well

Any additional comments?

I understand that she likes to write for the church congregation but these saintly conversations she's making take place have been truly far fetched.

Total waste of time!

This book is very amateur and the narration was just horrible! Glad it I did not pay for this.

Waste of Time and Money

I rarely regret reading, or listening to a book. This is one of the few times. Main character is whinny and wimpy. Plot, dialogue and character development is simplistic. Even the narration was off, often overenthusiastic or too slow and drawn out.

Couldn't Stop Listening

I could not stop listening to this book. I listened to the preview to possibly put in my wish list when I gained credits. I ended up purchasing the audible because I couldn't wait. I actually felt steaming hatred for some of the characters.

New Narrator!!

I so wanted to enjoy this book, but couldn't tolerate the narrator's voice. her voice lacked fullness and accurate intonation. She made the characters unbelievable.

Just ok

Story was ok but I felt I would have enjoyed it more if it had a different narrator. Narrators voice was too monotone lacked character.

Pretty good book

I wasn’t too partial to the narrator… she wasn’t reading with any emotion. Was able to finish book because I like the author!
