From the author of the critically acclaimed What Alice Forgot comes a breakout new novel about the secrets husbands and wives keep from each other.

Three women. One secret. And a letter that will change everything—forever.

Tess. Rachel. Cecilia. Three women living three very different lives. But when Cecilia opens up a Pandora’s box, their lives will intersect in ways none of them could foresee.

Cecilia is the woman who seems to have it all: a successful career, a gorgeous husband, and three wonderful daughters. One day she finds an old tattered letter in the attic that’s addressed to her, to be opened only in the event of her husband’s death. But he’s still very much alive. When Cecilia casually mentions it to him on the phone, he laughs it off, telling her to put the letter away. Yet when he flies home early from an overseas business trip, and then frantically searches for the letter, Cecilia realizes there’s something important in it, something she needs to know. Yet even Pandora herself could not prepare Cecilia for what the letter reveals.

This is an excellent book that beautifully builds and draws you into the lives of three ordinary Australian women during extraordinary circumstances. The secrets that lie at the heart of each of them are easy to relate to and told masterfully. It is that wonderful mix of complex charcter study and great plot that makes you form a love/hate relationship with each of the characters. Caring so much about what comes next makes it hard to put down. This is the perfect summer read/book club/gift book because you'll want to run out and find someone else to talk with about it when you're done. Do be careful of spoilers on this one - - there is great pleasure in each revelation.

The story was sooo intriguing! The writing was beautiful. There were lines that took my breath away. There's so much to this story, and I loved the writer's technique (I can't say more without giving away anything). The narrator was fantastic and really brought this book to life. Will definitely recommend this to some people!

I actually started this after some major surgeries. I was 3/4 of the way through, but, realized I had been getting the families and marriages mixed up. It was so good and I knew my confusion was mostly due all the medications I was taking. Sure enough, as my head cleared the major characters', and their dilemmas', anger, bitterness, lust, and delightfully fully captured children, drew me in, as surely as they were my own friends and families..

Thank you for such a great book and the narrator was so wonderfully able to convey the voices of all the adult's' nuances, as well as all the children, even one with an endearing lisp.

So Good, So Intricate, I did not want it to end

No twists or turns really. Rather disappointed in overall story. So many different characters to keep up with and no real climax.. slow
