Publisher's Summary

The World Peace Diet has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. It is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our meals and our broad range of problems -psychological, social, and spiritual, as well as health and environmental. It offers powerful ways we can all experience healing and peace and contribute to a positive transformation of human consciousness.

Life changing

Where does The World Peace Diet rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The readers voice is soothing...I might have fallen asleep if not for the content.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

This book changed my thinking in ways I did not dream were possible. I have made what I once thought of as an impossible shift in diet and the benefits to my life are clear.

Which scene was your favorite?

The whole book is beneficial.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The World Peace Diet was hard to listen to. Yes, there were times when I wanted to cry but I am grateful that I am able to be touched in this way.

Any additional comments?

I wish everyone could hear these words and think about what kind of world we want to live in. I know the world would become a better place.

Enlightening book

Would you listen to The World Peace Diet again? Why?

I discovered The World Peace Diet in 2012. I had been vegetarian for a year and became vegan while listening to this book. The overall feeling was of coming home at last. I resonated with the ideas Will Tuttle presents, and I was also challenged by perspectives that I had never thought of. It is a thought-provoking and life-changing book.

What other book might you compare The World Peace Diet to and why?

Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows, by Melanie Joy.

Any additional comments?

This book is read by the author, who is not a professional reader. You can sometimes feel it, but I much prefer his sensitive reading to someone who just does the job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but it is too lengthy over 12 hours

Great Book and A Wonderful Way to Live!!!

I've been a Vegetarian for over 25 years and this wonderful book shed light on additional steps that I can take to make the world a better place and enhance my overall quality of life.

I loved it and thought that it is well written and thought – provoking, while at the same time, not disparaging those who “don’t get it” but hopefully enlightening them.

I’d highly recommend reading “The World Peace Diet” and wish that it was recommended reading in nutritional classes and schools throughout.

I’m going to be going Vegan at least 1 – 2 days a week for the rest of the year and start moving in that direction.

Pretty Good Book, Bad Performance

I want to like this book more than I do. I love the spiritual case the author makes for veganism. Prospective listeners should only buy this title for that reason. And I found his personal story interesting as well. But this audiobook has two major flaws, and they may (and should) dissuade the casual listener.

The lesser of the two flaws is Tuttle's characterization of science throughout the book, about which he has nothing good to say. He uses words like "materialistic" more than once, and dismisses any scientific examination of anything as shallow and malevolent. It's an argument that is so wrong I don't have space here to set it right.

By far the greater flaw in this book is the choice of the author as narrator. Tuttle is quite simply an abominable performer of his own work. His voice is deadpan. He mutters his way through the text, making this important topic sound dull and soporific. There are professionals out there who can bring this book to life, but I suppose that seemed like a good way to save a few bucks. And speaking of professionals, who did the engineering on this recording? The levels are ridiculously low, the tones don't match from one cut to the next (again, a professional narrator would have helped). Did Tuttle record this in the back of his RV while on the road? Because it sounds like a Radio Shack-quality job.

If you care about veganism and are interested in it as part of your spiritual practice, I say hold your nose, turn up the volume, and buy this one. Otherwise, there's nothing for you here.

I wish I had listened to the preview before hand

What would have made The World Peace Diet better?

Having a professional narrator. Removal the untrue and unsubstantiated statements in it.

Would you ever listen to anything by Will Tuttle again?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Will Tuttle?

Anyone of the professionals that do other audio books.

Any additional comments?

His rant about circumcision is complete bull crap. He equates it with Female Genital Mutilation and it is nothing the same. As a circumcised man I can tell you that the pleasure i get from sex is just fine. He doesn't even mention the fact that it cuts down on STD spread. I also don't accept the message that eating animals makes us more violent people. I think the truth is that most people just don't want to think about where their food comes from. Also some people do think about where there food comes from and they are still wonderful people. Some of the kindest, best people I know are hunters and I believe they will never expand the violence they do to animals to people. I am a vegan. The thing that really bugs me is that most (maybe all) of what he says about not eating animals is true, but when you also say things that are untrue and seem weird to most people you discredit the whole message.

Best Book Since Reading Harry Potter

This book really ties it all together. This is by far the best book I've come across that explains all of the aspects of living a conscious lifestyle.

This took me from veganism to radical veganism

Would you consider the audio edition of The World Peace Diet to be better than the print version?

N/A

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

I once ate an average of 2-3 animal products (flesh or secretions) in every meal I ate, until I was guided to the truth of animal agriculture when I became life-long friends with a vegan marathoner and my now-wife who was raised vegetarian and together we became vegan. It took me four years to slowly taper back my consumption of animal parts, until finally eliminating the "option" permanently. Despite the past 6 years of life experience, comuning with animals, growing plants and perusing self-education, this book taught me the depth of the issue in our minds and our daily lives. I am afraid readers might write this off assuming that the author believes eliminating animal agriculture and enslavement will solve everything. To anyone who would interpret in this light, this book examines a root cause of the problems that are the symptoms of an illness. A head ache is terrible and so are the problems in this world, but let us treat the illness. After reading this I am dedicated to lovingly oppose this culture of commodifying and manipulating living things. Let's leave nature be and embrace it!

Which character – as performed by Will Tuttle – was your favorite?

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Tough going but really interesting

This title is very tough going! It goes in to all the gory details of the meat industry from raising the animals to slaughter and packaging and you will need a strong stomach to get through the descriptions. However this is information everybody needs to know and it would shock anybody in to realising that we need to look after ourselves as well as the rest of the animal population in the world. I recommend this title for anyone looking to get healthy while also trying to help the environment.
