Publisher's summary

Stephen Moorehouse makes his second appearance, along with his famous Uncle, Phillip Kahle, Stephen's love interest, Jeanette, and a cast of new characters. The action begins when Phillip decides to throw a large Hollywood style party at his mansion to announce that his script is almost finished and he will soon begin casting for his next movie.

The suspense picks up when Phillip takes Stephen and Jeanette on a trip to the beautiful Mackinac Island where they stay at The Peacock Inn. The brooding Edward Van Dyke has turned an aging Victorian mansion into the new must stay spot on the island. His nightly seances have become the talk of the town, but recently they have evolved into something much darker.

When Stephen encounters a person from Jeanette's past, the dim corridors of the Peacock Inn turn deadly, and Stephen must find truth behind The Peacock Prophecy.

Im now hooked on this series

And can’t wait to listen to more.. I don’t read a whole lot of mysteries but will definitely be reading the rest of this series. Author was great in not only keeping you interested but does really well keeping multiple plots throughout the story straight and winds up all loose ends so your not left wondering what happened in any of the plots. Narrator also does very well with different characters male and female and easy to listen to. I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for voluntary honest review . Definitely recommend and I’m starting the next in series now.

Island murder mystery

Stephen Moorehouse goes back to Michigan to to see his uncle Phillip and assistant Jeanette. They visit Mackinac island where they experience mystery, murder, seances and Hollywood characters while trying to solve a whodunnit.

The story was colourful and interesting. It took some time to build up but when it did, it was worth it! What a treat!

Matt narrated amazingly, his voice was perfect for the story and his character voices were spot on! He helped me visualize the story and characters while reading. How awesome!!

Note: This book was given to me for free at my request and i provided this objective review voluntarily.

Sheer madness!

situational-humor, mackinac-island, mystery, spiritism, movie-star, movies

You know how so many mysteries start out really interesting and then fizzle about halfway through? Not this one! The setup seemed to take a while but then it all came together and kept getting better. The characters are classic, including the weirdos from Wisconsin (where I come from). Nice but limited descriptions of the UP and lakes Superior and Huron. I liked it!
Matthew Berry is a fun narrator with many voices.
I entered a giveaway and won the audiobook!

The Peacock Prophecy

This book was good.I couldn't really get into it.Actresses vying for a part in a performance are making themselves a nuisance at a party the producer is having. His nephew is visiting from college and is in awe of the people he meets. They all end up on Mackinaw Island in a guest house where seances run amok and a scammer with a spirit cabinet makes money the old way.So much goes on it is hard to keep up. Narration by Matthew E. Berry was good.

Seances and murder

Great concept but wished it was more in-depth in the seance and murder dept.

Matthew Berry did a good job narrating.

Just as good as the first book

This is Brooke too so we half to love triangles, too bad guys into situations that really need fixing AN police involvement. Steve and his uncle Philip Jeanette and Dom are back. Yes Dom from the train to Chicago is meeting Steven and his uncle and Jeanette on an island in Michigan along with his brother David. They are to stay at the Peacock hotel where they have séances every night and with the recent murder of Brett uncle Phillips long time love everyone thinks he is anxious to speak to her but how Kenny if that man who holds the séances is a phony.

When they leave Cliffside Manor to go to the island they also leave behind picketers and no it is not the right to hunt picketers that dislike the BRITs so muchThese are new picketers that think uncle Philip serves the devil because he had a devil character in one of his many movies. Poor uncle Philip and Stephen they really have it both coming and going. I love this theories and although they had many offshoot to the plot they have no cliffhangers. This is a cute and intriguing mystery I would listen to this book just to hear the narrator do his female British accent I love this narrator he is awesome and the fact that the story is the great makes this a five star book across-the-board.

Great Read

The Peacock Prophecy: A Stephen Moorehouse Mackinac Island Mystery was a good read by James R. Nelson. Stephen Moorehouse finished his first year of art school and is excited to return to his Uncle Phillip’s estate in northern Michigan. Jeanette, his uncle’s assistant, is the person he’s waited all year to see. She is busy catering to a house that is filled with Hollywood people. Everyone is there celebrating the return of Phillip to produce after his girlfriend’s murder the year before. Stephen, Phillip, and Jeanette go on vacation and check into the Peacock Inn, when things start off strange. Spiritualist Edward Van Dyke has turned the Victorian mansion into the must stay place on the island. He holds nightly seances and they have become the talk of the town. They turn into something darker. Someone from Jeannette’s past shows up and the Peacock Inn turns deadly. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
