Publisher's Summary

When Chicago detective Alec Buchanan is offered a prime position with the FBI, he takes it as the perfect opportunity to leave the Windy City and follow in his brothers' footsteps to the top echelons of law enforcement. But first, he must complete one last assignment: acting as a glorified bodyguard to hotel heiress Regan Hamilton Madison.

The gorgeous exec has become entangled in some potentially deadly business: Someone has e-mailed her a graphic crime-scene photo - and the victim is no stranger.

Regan suspects that the trouble started when she agreed to help a journalist friend expose a shady self-help guru who preys on lonely, vulnerable women. In fact, the smooth-as-an-oil-slick Dr. Lawrence Shields may have been responsible for the death of one of his devotees. Hoping to find some damning evidence, Regan attends a Shields seminar.

At the gathering, the doctor persuades his guests to partake in an innocent little "cleansing" exercise. He asks them to make a list of the people who have hurt or deceived them over the years, and poses the question: Would your world be a better place if these people ceased to exist? Treating the exercise as a game, Regan plays along.

The experience is all but forgotten - until the first person on Regan's list turns up dead. Shock turns to horror when other names from the list start to surface as corpses, and a harrowing tango of desire and death is set into motion. Now brutal murders seem to stalk Regan's every move - and a growing attraction to Alec may compromise her safety, while stirring up tender emotions she thought she could no longer feel. Yet as the danger intensifies and a serial killer circles ever closer, Regan must discover who has turned her private revenge fantasies into grisly reality.

    "Distracting narration and lackluster story"
Would you try another book from Julie Garwood and/or Joyce Bean?

I adore Julie Garwood and the other books in this series were great. Joyce Bean needs to relax with her accents. This is the second book she has ruined for me. I can't listen to this over and over.

What could Julie Garwood have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The story line didn't really play out how Reagan fell for Theo she just looked at him and was in love.

Would you be willing to try another one of Joyce Bean’s performances?

Yes but I am wary of what accent she will do next.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Murder List?

I would have added not cut.

    "Horrible Narration"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    No. The narration was horrible.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joyce Bean?

Joyce Bean would have been great if she just got rid of the fake Boston accent. That was bad.

    Any additional comments?

Great story and plot but bad narration.

    "Boston accent unrealistic."

Narrator's Boston accent is extremely irritating. Most Boston residents do not speak with those low class sounding inflections.

    "Enjoyable Julie Garwood"
Would you listen to another book narrated by Joyce Bean?

I've listened to a lot of books narrated by Joyce Bean and like her pretty much, however her Boston accent for Alec was so bad, she really should not have even tried. It was distracting.

    "Julie Garwood strikes again!"

Another great book by Julie Garwood. Whether its historical or present day romance, she always tells a good story.

    "Terrible Narrator"

I have read this book and very much enjoyed it. I've been looking for the audiobook and was excited when I found it. However, the narration was terrible which ruined it. I don't recommend the audiobook, but I do recommend reading the book

    "Not on my list!"

I tried and tried, but could not get through an hour of this audiobook. As a non-audio book it's probably mediocre but not terrible -- the sort of thing to skim through while watching TV or listening to the radio. As an audio book, it seemed to me to be very tedious. Also, I must say that the reader's voice was annoying -- sweet and childish -- not pleasant to me, but perhaps just the thing for someone else.

"Possibly the worst narration I've heard"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I couldn't get past the terrible inflections and accents.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joyce Bean?

Tanya Eby would be a good choice.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was great. I loved the kindle book. I just wish I hadn't added the narration - almost ruined the story for me.

"Took a star off for narration"

This book would have been a five star review if the narrator hadn't used such a bad accent for the hero. I'm a born Bostonian and that is not a Boston accent. Not sure what it is other than distracting.

    "Slightly disappointed..."

I have read the first 3 books before this. I loved the first 2..didnt much care for the book about Monk (not my favorite character) but this next installment just didn't come close to cutting it like the others.

Narration was good, she did good with the voices. I did not like how when someone got a phone call they played the audio like it was a phone call but still scripting it like reading out of the book. That was my only complaint about the audio.

So the book was interesting for the first 10 chapters and then fell until the 40th. It was slow and weeks were skipped at a time I felt she could have been building suspense or the romance that was inevitably going to happen. The ending I thought was the most eventful part of the book and good but this was a so so mystery and a so so romance.

I wouldn't really recommend this one since the books can really be read on their own, your not missing that much if not read in order it catches you up if other characters are mentioned in explaining who they are. I would skip and go for the next one in this case. A slight bore to "read"
