Publisher's Summary

In the feuding English court, gentle Lady Madelyne suffered the cruel whims of her ruthless brother, Baron Louddon. Then, in vengeance for a bitter crime, Baron Duncan of Wexton—the Wolf—unleashed his warriors against Louddon's domain. Exquisite Madelyne was the prize he catured...but when he gazed upon the proud beauty, he pledged to protect her with his life.

In his rough-hewn castle, Duncan proved true to his honor. But when at last their noble passion conquered them both, she surrendered with all her soul. Now, for love, Madelyne would stand fast...as bravely as her Lord, the powerful Wolf who fought for...Honor's Splendour.

Good Book, Bad Narrator

I've read this Garwood - and several of her other works - many times and was delighted to see that it's now at audible.com but was disappointed to see that Anne Flosnik as narrator. Ms. Flosnik does a satisfactory presentation of female voices, however, she consistently destroys male voices. She makes male characters sound like arrogant, expiring Darth Vaders making them - IMHO - boring and unlikeable. I think Simon Prebble does a much more credible presentation.

narrator is distracting, story is wonderful

What did you love best about Honor's Splendour?

Strong characters and a compelling setting lay a firm foundation for a good read.

How could the performance have been better?

At the beginning of the book the narrator ends most every sentence with a breathy sigh and continues to repeat unfortunate choice of cadence frequently throughout the book - it distracts repeatedly from the story.

Any additional comments?

The narrator has a good variety of character accents. It seems that she's working so hard on her accents that she looses her ability to vary her cadence and tenor. The story was well written and compelling and I'll look forward to reading 'Garwood's work again.

Great book. Bad narrator

The book was awesome like the rest of Garwood's book, but gosh, The narrators voice was bland and irritating.

Wonderful story, pleasing audio book

This is one of my favorite Julie Garwood books! I was a bit leary when I saw that Anne Flosnik was the narrator but I feel she did a nice job with this book.

Unlike Gentle Warrior where Ms. Flosnik groweled the Geoffrey's lines, she used a much better voice for Duncan.

A very enjoyable listen!

Story is great, narrator is terrible

This story is great, however Anne Flosnik is terrible. Her voice sounds gruff, gravelly, and strained from speaking too low. It's almost painful to listen to. It's very disappointing considering the story is so good.

Narration was not good. Loved the story though.

What would have made Honor's Splendour better?

Better narrator.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Madelyn, she has spunk.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Anne Flosnik?

Davina Porter

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Had previously bought before and loved Julie's story but the narrator ruined it. Her voices were not distinctive enough for each character.

Any additional comments?

I would buy all of Julie garwoods books on audial if they were narrated better. I have them all in hardback and read them often. I am just starting to purchase them form my kindle too.

Honor's Splendor Was a Delightful Listen!"

If you enjoy historical romance novels, you will love this book. I think it's fair to say that no one does it better than Julie Garwood. You will enjoy getting to know the characters she writes about. Like her other historical romance novels, this book not only features a strong-minded man, but a strong-minded woman. Garwood does a wonderful job of playing with the expectations of the time period she's writing about, and pushing at them just enough to make it neither totally unbelievable, nor completely unpalatable.

Some previous people have criticized the narrator, Anne Flosnik. However in this book I thought she did a good job and enjoyed the narration. I listened to Gentle Warrior and thought Anne Flosnick was to over dramatic with that narration. I am glad I gave this book a try as I found this thoroughly enjoyable. It's the type of audiobook you don't want to end.

Honor's Splendour

If you like a lot of fluff and a weak plot with lots of sexual romance, then this book is for you. It was not for me. I would have liked a stronger plot and a different reader. The title was strong and interesting, but the novel didn't do the title justice.

Holy Jamoly

The story being good was the ONLY thing that got me through this. That and speeding the book up to 1.25 speed! The narration was horrendous!! Julie Garwoods writings deserve better than this. I am sorry Anne Flosnik, I feel terrible saying unkind things towards narrators, but this was not the best work.
The story was adorable. I loved the interactions between all the characters. The story isn't one of dragging out what we all know will happen in the end, but instead embraces it and let's us enjoy the love and romance.

Excellent Garwood

I love this book but the lady reading it sounds like you Nans older posh friend. Listening to an old lady read the love scenes is dreadful!

Enjoyable read

I enjoyed the characterisation and storyline, but the narrator wasn't very good when it came to doing the male voices. It did detract from the overall performance

Not one of the best books

I was very disappointed in this book. I thought there would be more history instead there was sex scene's galore with nothing left to the imagination. If you like that type of book go for it. There was no meat to the story. Very disappointed.
