Publisher's Summary

Kat Martin raises chills as danger stalks a woman determined to make it in a man's world....

Five weeks ago Carly Drake stood at her grandfather's grave. Now she's burying Drake Trucking's top driver, and the cops have no leads on the hijacking or murder. Faced with bankruptcy, phone threats, and the fear of failure, Carly has to team up with the last man she wants to owe - Lincoln Cain. Cain is magnetic, powerful, controlling - and hiding more than one secret. He promised Carly's granddad he'd protect her. The old man took a chance on him when he was nothing but a kid with a record, and now he's the multimillionaire owner of a rival firm. But Linc's money can't protect Carly from the men who'll do anything to shut her down or the secrets behind Drake Trucking. If she won't sell out, the only way to keep her safe is to keep her close...and fight like hell.

Love Kat Martin!

A little mystery, a lot of love story and a gifted writer to blend them perfectly. Thank you Ms Martin for another wonderful book!

Disappointing at best

What was supposed to be a suspense/thriller turned into a soft porn story about the stereotypical "helpless woman" who must be rescued by the big, handsome hero and just got worse from there. Incredibly disappointing. #helplesswoman #disappointing #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Predictable

Enjoyable story but very predictable and sexual descriptions were overdone and repetitive. Not a fan.

Very disappointed

The story was weak and the" throbbing cock" sex scenes made it the equivalent of a cheap Harlequin Romance.

Awful, Awful, AWFUL!

Any additional comments?

Awful, Awful, AWFUL!! If you want a beautiful, blond, sexy protagonist who thinks she wants to be independent, but succumbs like a helpless princess to the protective arms of a big, muscular, ex-con hunk who happens to be a millionaire; if you want every third page to listen to three pages of hot-n-heavy sexual desire and satiety; if you want pages of self-flagellation about “if only I had come back sooner, none of this would have happened”, or, “he doesn’t really care about me-he’s a millionaire”; if you want a flimsy plot that due to the previous stuff doesn’t get much attention anyway, then this is the book for you. I never mind a soupçon of sex in my novels, but the overdose in this one made me gag and fast forward repeatedly. Great for 20-somethings looking for titillations, I guess, but for a granny who just wants a good, complex, Baldacci- or Louise Penny-style crime novel, this is the pits. I have listened to dozens of Audible books. This is the first one I will have returned as unsatisfactory.

Not a mystery or a thriller; it's a bodice ripper.

What would have made Beyond Reason better?

Nothing. It was a story right out of the old Romance magazines. In the first few pages I knew just how round her breasts were and that he always had a lump in his jeans. It was so bad that I couldn't finish listening.

Has Beyond Reason turned you off from other books in this genre?

Absolutely will avoid this author

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He did not detract; the whole book was trash.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Beyond Reason?

The whole book.

Any additional comments?

Why would you give this book five stars? I just can't depend on your evaluations anymore.

Great and totally entertaining!

This book has everything you could want! Awesome narration by one of my favorites, Jack Garret! Filled with action and adventure! A complete book, no waiting for the rest of the story! Worth a credit!!

So so

Not as good as her other series. Story was weak. It's fiction but too unrealistic. A drug lord wouldn't have behaved this way. He would not have done his own dirty work among other things. And the FBI would not have tolerated this much interference.

Thank God Women aren’t written to be so pitiful and insecure!

Every predictable stereotype imaginable! I don’t know why I kept listening. Everything from “little lady” to “you can have any woman you want. Why do you want me?”
