Publisher's Summary

Abby Sinclair had a desperate childhood until she was rescued and adopted by a retired army ranger who molded her into a master of self-defense. Now, she's a cunning and fearless assassin thrust into assignment after dangerous assignment, using everything she has - nerve, resilience, strength, sex - to come out on top. Her only rule: Trust no one.

Abby's latest assignment is in Colombia: Go undercover and snuff out a dangerous arms dealer active in the underground sex trade. But when Abby purposely blows her cover in a last-ditch attempt to free the helpless victims, deadly mercenary Kane Woodland is recruited as back-up. His mission: Get Abby out of that hellhole.

The last thing Kane expects is to feel a primal attraction for Abby. But when she convinces him to join her on her perilous mission, their newfound passion could put the lives of their whole team at risk.

Critic Reviews

"Kennedy kicks off a gritty and thrilling new romantic suspense series with a heroine who is every bit as lethal as her hero.... The action is raw and deadly, and the passion sizzling. Romantic suspense just gained a major new player!" (RT Book Reviews)

Special Ops Romance

This was a very entertaining special ops romance. There was enough romance mixed with action to keep the story interesting and to actual have me looking forward to the next installment. Abby is a strong female lead and for the most part doesn't end up being a a dumb bimbo in the end. Which often happens with the alpha romances. It was nice to see Elle introduce potentially strong female leads for future installments. Yes the men are alpha and Kane stays true to this trait. Steaming romance level fits this book. And doesn't go over the top. Narrator was okay not great but did not take away from the story. Escapism for a credit

Ohhhhhh tough girls, bad guys

Ok if you read my reviews you know I love strong women and tough men. This one is packed with both and it’s exciting from the beginning. It’s one of the best tough girl books I’ve heard lately. This is a great start to a new series and I’ve been introduced to some characters that I can’t wait to hear their stories.

Abby is an assassin. Her past could have destroyed her but instead it’s made her strong. Did it make her too strong? Will she push her chance for love away? As she tries to save the lives of a group of kidnapped children from evil, sadistic men, will Abby trust Kane with her heart?

Kane is so tough but he’s tender too. He loves strong women but has he met one that’s too strong for him? Can he make it past Abby’s defenses and show her what love is? Kane’s team works together with Abby’s team of assassins in trying to save the children but will he be able to save Abby?

In the midst of all this we have all kind of danger and intrigue. This is definitely worth a credit. I can’t wait for the next story in this series.

Officially Addicted

Addicted! No really...I am already through the first three and I have two more until I will be waiting non so patiently for the next in the series to come.

Abby and Kane...LOVED! From the start to the end...from first attack to falling in love...MIDNIGHT RESCUE is just sensational! The action kept me on my toes and the sexual chemistry had me curling my toes! You also get the chance to meet the secondary characters, who we see throughout the series, and if they didn't just have me cracking up...these are some seriously deadly mercenaries and assassins, and I was CRACKING up at their back and forth bickering, like brothers and sisters.

I was completely enraptured by the relationship (or not so relationship) between Isabel and Trevor (who are H/h of book Three), and I can admit my heart broke a few times, especially at the end.

Christy Reece fans will completely be sucked into this series! Elle Kennedy is making a name for herself among the Romance Suspense greats!

Side Note: Allyson Ryan KILLED IT! OMG she is amazing! The book literally was brought to life by her ability to make every character sound different...I was blown away!

Great new author for me

This is the first book by Elle Kennedy that I have listened to and I can't wait for the next one in the series. This is a definite adult book due to the underage sex ring and Abby's story but it was well done in my opinion. Loved all the characters and can't wait for their stories. Definitely worth the credit.

Kept me riveted

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this book. Lots of action, couldn't stop listening.

What did you like best about this story?

Love it that the descriptions of places and people didn't run on and on and on......

Have you listened to any of Allyson Ryan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am going to look for other books with Allyson Ryan, what a great performance.

Ms Kennedy Got a Good Thing Going

What did you love best about Midnight Rescue?

good story and characters, use a credit...other reviewers said this was a good listen and it was.

What other book might you compare Midnight Rescue to and why?

see reads by Gabra Zackman, couple of great ones from her in this same range/story line

What about Allyson Ryan’s performance did you like?

She is good, but she must STOP using contractions!! It takes away from her good range, and makes a little bit of her reading style lazy.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

a bit misty eyed when our 2nd character hero walks away from the hospital...book #2 perhaps
