Publisher's Summary

"A chalice of wisdom for our time." (Ernest L. Rossi, PhD, C.J. Jung Institute of Los Angeles)

Milton H. Erickson has been called the most influential hypnotherapist of our time. Part of his therapy was his use of teaching tales, which through shock, surprise, or confusion - with genius use of questions, puns, and playful humor - helped people to see their situations in a new way. In this audiobook Sidney Rosen has collected over 100 of the tales. Presented verbatim and accompanied by Dr. Rosen's commentary, they are grouped under such headings as Motivating Tales, Reframing, and Capturing the Innocent Eye.

My Voice Will Go with You is skillfully narrated by Brian Arens, an Audible listener favorite.

A review of the practice of Dr. Milton Erickson.

The wondrous tales of a great hypnotherapist, who I once was invited to hear at a meeting of the Conn. Medical Society, in Hartford, CT. His soothing manner furthered my interest in the study and practice of self hypnosis.

Interesting but...

I think the book would benefit from Erickson’s tales being announced, ie “Tale 1 The naughty child”, and then the authors analysis of the tale also being announced. It’s sometimes difficult to know when one tale ends and the author’s analysis starts. Fascinating man though. Enjoyed it.

A classic

Interesting stories from a different time. Eriksson is definitely the grandfather of hypnotherapy as we know it today.

Brilliant!

Have the Audible and Kindle versions of the book to allow me to read/highlight the words as they are spoken. Doesn't give many clues as to how Erickson sent his clients into trance to achieve the results but it allows you to understand the way his mind worked and give a taste to the practitioner of his ingenious use of metaphors. The book also details other books of interest for the dedicated learner

Exasperating

This is the most irritating book I have listened to on Audible. The preamble lasts until chapter 4. The story line is a tangled confusing mesh of Erickson's life, his methods and the author's ,very personal, interpretations.
Would it be too much to ask just to listen to the actual stories invented by the man himself.

interesting Background into Erickson

If you're a hypnotherapist this insight, into the founder of hypnotherapy, is probably essential reading. Some of Erickson's therapies involved the telling of stories that resonated deeply with the individual to create impactful change.

Very interesting and thought-provoking, such as the little girl who steals and the man who stood still for years.

Great content, narration was mechanical.

The content was great, rich with stories and learning opportunities. The narration was flat and mechanical.

From a NLP Trainer perspective

I was training with Stephen Gilligan in Sydney while listening to this book. It was a great compliment and very highly recommended. Listen to a chapter here and there provided some new creative ideas and I look forward to listening again next year.
