Original concept in learning a language.

In learning a new language a variety of tools are required. The approach used in this Audio book is a
unique way to begin to have a command of a language in this case Spanish.

In my view the best way is being in a Country or with a group that speak the language you wish to learn is the superior way to learn any language. But this concept can certainly help anyone who wishes to learn Spanish.

Finally a book I can learn with 👏

I feel confident this type of book can successfully teach me Spanish. Learning all these phrases in one sitting would be impossible, so this is good one to listen to repeatedly. I know the repetitive listening is helping me retain the several words and phrases. I may not become fluent, but at least I'll be able to communicate better. Out of the various methods I've tried this one is easier for me personally.
Mariela has done a great job of narrating. I did turn the speed down to make it easier for me to follow. Other than that, her clear speech was easy understand. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to communicate in Spanish without the fluff other book's wasted my time with. I was given this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

A great refresher!

This was great for someone like myself, whose Spanish was a little rusty! The narrator has a strong, clear voice and the recording quality is great. The only thing I suggest if you're having trouble following - turn the speed down a little. Perhaps pause after each phrase to give you time to repeat it - she goes fast! I certainly recommend this as a great learning tool.

Unique idea!

What made the experience of listening to 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery) the most enjoyable?

The fact that there was an accompanying PDF to this Audible book made it such an amazing resource. I think reading and listening to a book like this at the same time is one of the most effective ways to language learning. Just get the book and the PDF will be available in your Audible library. This was very new to me and it was an amazing surprise!

What was one of the most memorable moments of 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery)?

The statistics the author provided were basically that if you know these 2000 words, you will understand 84% of Spanish conversations. That is amazing!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is more of a book you break up into several study sessions. Personally, I like to break it into 25-50 new words per session.

Any additional comments?

I was provided with a free copy for my honest review of this book. This has not affected the rating of this book what so ever.

A MUST HAVE BOOK FOR SPANISH LEARNERS!

What made the experience of listening to 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery) the most enjoyable?

The resources provided with this book are amazing if you are truly looking to become fluent in Spanish. If you know all the 2000 words in this book, you will pretty much be able to be a part of any conversational dialogue with a native. The audiobook comes with a PDF so you can read all the phrases at the same time as you listen to it. I find this to be the absolute best way to learn a language.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context: Get Fluent & Increase Your Spanish Vocabulary with 2000 Spanish Phrases (Spanish Language Lessons Mastery)?

The book is a giant list of phrases so it's not that kind of book when it comes to "memorable moments" but I will say that making it a habit to listen and learn 50 words a day has been working like a charm.

Have you listened to any of Mariela Arredondo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First one but she does an amazing job. Her English and Spanish are perfect and she keeps a steady tone during the whole book.

Any additional comments?

I can't recommend this book enough! The fact that you get a PDF to read while you listen is awesome. Practice reading comprehension and listening comprehension at the same time really is the best way to learn.

Very helpful and extremely easy to listen to

This is the most helpful book I've found so far to help me learn Spanish. I had taken beginning courses years ago in college but never did anything with it so I didn't retain much. Listening to this book brought some of it back. There is so much great information in this book and it really does cover a lot. Mariela was super to listen to. She made it fun and kept a good pace. She was very clear and put emphasis where it should be. If it wasn't for her narration I doubt I would have been able to continue listening to the whole book. I can't praise her enough. I want to learn this language and this has been very helpful. I have already begun listening to this book again. I will also be printing the PDF. Bonus!! I must mention that there are a few bad words in here I wasn't expecting. For me, that was a good thing as I have worked around several Spanish speaking people and soon will be again. I did recognize some of those words and now I know what they mean. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A valuable Spanish pronunciation

I have been asked to write a review about the audiobook version of '2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context'.
This review reflects only my independent opinion and it is not at all influenced by the opinion of the producer of the book.

WHAT STANDS OUT?
+ The words in the '2000 Most Common Spanish Words in Context' are offered in sentences, they have a context and therefore their meaning becomes more clear.
+ The combination of a frequency list (ebook or pdf-file) with an audiobook is quite unique. The Spanish sentences and the English translation are all read out loud.
+ In this Audible version a pdf-file of the book is included, so you can read along. It makes the understanding of the text better and easier.
+ There is a translation of the Spanish sentences in English, which is quite unique. I saw other frequency dictionaries which did not have such a translation.
+ I am also very pleased with the voice of Mariela Arredondo, the narrator. For me she has both in Spanish and in English a perfect pronunciation. Being a non-English speaker with this audiobook I can learn two languages at the same time: Spanish and English!
+ The sentences are pronounced at two different speeds: the first time a little slower so you hear the words better and the second time at the normal talking speed.
+ Of course by reading the sentences and the translation you can learn more Spanish words than only the words from the frequency list.
+ The Kindle ebook alone does not cost much.
+ The Audible audiobook version has of course a higher prize, but it contains more than 11 hours of spoken audio!
+ This frequency list contains the different verb conjugations as separate entries, like the list of the Corpus de Referencia del Español Actual (CREA) also does. This way you can recognize and remember the different verb conjugations more easy.
+ A frequency list surely is a practical tool to learn a foreign language. Here in the Netherlands for example we have the "Delftse methode". It is a didactic method developed at the Technical University in Delft which also makes use of 'a frequency list of most used Dutch words' for foreigners to learn Dutch.

WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED?
- Smaller chapters (for instance of 50 words each) of the words in the audiobook will make it more easy to repeat the words or to go to a specific number in the list.
- An alphabetical summary of all the 2000 words at the end of the book. It would help to find specific words more easy, although you can also use the search function in the Adobe Reader software for this.
- Thematic vocabulary lists (like nouns, verbs, food, transportation, family etc.) of all the 2000 words would help me to get an overview of all the words in a specific category.
- An explanation if a noun is male of female (el or la). Often you can read it in the sentence or you can make it up from the context though.
- The mention of the main verb after the conjugation, like: Es - Is (Ser - To be, to exist).
- It would be nice if at the end of the book you could find an overview of the main verbs and the used conjugations of these verbs.
- But I realize that these improvements will surely make the book and the audiobook more expensive.

CONCLUSION:
The book is a good start to get an impression which are the most used Spanish words.
In my opinion the Audible audiobook is an indispensable addition, because it enhances the learning of words and I find a correct pronunciation necessary for learning a foreign language.
Because an alphabetical summary or a thematic vocabulary of all the words is missing, it is difficult to get a quick impression which frequent words are selected.
There are all kinds of frequency lists and dictionaries available (for instance the ones with 3000 to 5000 words). They all have their differences. This makes it difficult to compare.
This frequency dictionary also names the frequency of the different conjugations of a verb (like: es, soy, eres, fue, fui etc.) and also the plural form of nouns (like: hombre, hombres) are counted as separate entries.
So be aware that this count will diminish the total of 2000 different words. Nevertheless, this does not always make the book less valuable.
I have the experience that no (study) book is perfect or holy: nearly every book can be complemented or improved.
Improving what is lacking in this book yourself (by sorting out the male or female origin of the Spanish nouns or by making an alphabetical summary), surely does take a lot of work, but also creates a more active work attitude that will improve the study and the memorization of words.
The book is a nice way to vary the study of a foreign language, especially if it stimulates one's own creativity in making sentences yourself.
So therefore I give a score of 4 points because of the things that I miss.

REGARDING AMAZON / AUDIBLE:
I would like to be able to pay with e.g. PayPal instead of only with a credit card. It would surely make it easier for all customers who do not have a credit card to buy something here.

A Great Guide!

I learned Spanish many years ago in a class room setting. There I learned all about the language and did become fluent in it, but as they say, if you don't use it you lose it. However, I do remember a little and this will be an excellent source to brush back up on what i forgot. I also feel this would be an excellent way for those who can't go to the country or practice with others to learn. The book is well written and the narrator does an excellent job. I really liked that Mariela Arredondo says the the word and then the phrase. I thought it was great that she would say the phrase once emphasizing the word then as it would be said by a fluent speaker. Then following with the English translation. Having the pdf to follow along with is wonderful as well. It helps you to see what you are hearing. This way, you can listen to the book whenever and then peruse the pdf when you have time. I really feel this audio book would help any who sought to learn the Spanish language. Just remember, it will still take effort on the listeners part to truly learn and remember but this is an excellent way to do it!!

Great for your Vocabulary

So far this has been very helpful for me. I love the approach of learning the words that I will need and use the most verses learning from the process of basic grammar. This has allowed me to start using what I've learned so far right away, which has helped me to retain the information better as I go. I’m really looking forward to seeing how much more my spanish vocabulary can learn as I continue to listen to this book again. Definitely worth giving this one a try.
