Publisher's Summary

The story of a remarkable friendship - told in a remarkable way. A story in which every woman will recognize herself...and her best friend

Jillian Lawton and Lesley Adamski. Two girls from very different backgrounds become best friends in the turbulent '60s, but their circumstances and choices - and their mistakes - take them in opposite directions. Lesley stays in their hometown. She marries young, living a life defined by the demands of small children, never enough money, and an unfaithful husband. Jill lives those years on a college campus shaken by the Vietnam War, and then as an idealistic young lawyer in New York City.

But they always remain friends.

Through the years and across the miles, Jill and Lesley confide everything to each other - every grief and joy. Because the quality of a friendship is the quality of a life.

Bonus Novella: Home to Honeymoon Harbor by JoAnn Ross

The rivalry between the Mannion and Harper families has divided them for over a century. Which is why, when John Mannion and Sara Harper fall in love, they become the small seaport town's very own Romeo and Juliet. But in Honeymoon Harbor, nothing - not even an infamous family feud - is a match for love.

The format is a bit odd.

I struggled with the addresses and letterhead being recited when changing characters in the book.

good story crappy format!

As always, I very much enjoy Debbie Macombers stories, and this was no exception. That being said, I did not like the format at all. to listen to every address on every envelope, or every line of an airline ticket was very tedious. I thought of returning the book, but muscled my way through. I will not however purchase written in this format.

Time and dates

While I didn’t dislike the storyline, the constant announcing of dates and time was really unnecessary. I almost quit listening Gabon several occasions, but thought I should try to listen since I paid for it. I would not be inclined to recommend this book. I have listened to many Debbie Macomber stories and have enjoyed them.

Enjoyable

I have read most of Debbie Macomber books. This was quite different, more of a journal. If you have every experienced a long friendship with someone this book will bring your memories to life!

Think most agree - didn't like the FORMAT

While I enjoy Macomber's work, I have to agree with what other's have already stated concerning the formatting of her book. It became tedious listening to dates of every letter being written.

Format

I really didn’t enjoy the format giving addresses and took away from the story. I really enjoyed the characters and since I was born in 1947 I enjoyed remembering the events from my past while some were not happy events just remembering them was good for me.

Good story, tedious format

Liked the story, although very predictable. Detested the journal/letter/correspondence format. The dates, constant repetition of addresses, and prices of stamps, gas, etc. was cheesy. Wouldn't recommend.

Painful

As several before me have said this format was excruciatingly painful to have to listen to all the dates, times, addresses, over & over?! 😡 Not to mention that the story just seem to drag on for ever & ever 🙄 sadly I would not recommend this book to anyone

Beautiful and touching story

It was amazing how many of the letters in the story brought tears to my eyes. A wonderful tale of two women and their lifetime friendship. One of my favorite of Ms Macombers books that I have read.

It was a good read but I didn't enjoy this book as I have other books.
