Snow, moonlight, daughter & dad

What a treasure Jane Yolen has given us, a doorway into the magic of childhood but with no magic other than the love of dad and daughter, and the deep mystery of owling by moonlight.

The audio production is clear and the story boosted by a wonderful musical track. Even better, this Audible file includes the original illustrations. Wish all audio picture books were like this.

I love the illustrations that play with the audio!

We've been slowly going through and buying the audible books from the With Synchronized Images category and have found that some are mis-categorized and don't have images. This one DOES have the original illustrations and we just love it!

The narrator has a very calm, soothing voice that really matches the tempo and mood of the story. The background music is similarly soothing, which makes this the perfect book to enjoy at bedtime. I really love the nostalgic feeling of the story and illustrations that serve as a reminder of meaningful, outdoor, family experiences.

Just Beautiful!

What a beautiful little story, about a girl walking in a winter wonderland with her father. Great illustrations and instrumental music complete this wonderful story.

We love it!

My 3 1/2 year old son loves this audio book (We have the hardcover too). He loves the owl sounds and the train sounds and requests to listen to this on a road trip.

Magical Experience

With the illustration, reading and the sound effect, this audio book unfolds a magical night owling, so vivid and peaceful. I close my eyes for an afternoon nap time and wake up in dark. As a child at the age of 30 (good for children of any age lol), living in loud city, a peaceful night owling experience seems quite unique! I enjoyed it a lot.

A quiet story.

This is the bedtime story I was looking for. So many of these books are accompanied by skipping flutes and snare drums. This is a story of a quiet night of owl watching. It is read softly, and the music is soothing. My eight year old son enjoyed it. I'm forty-six and rather enjoyed it myself.

Great.

I love it. The story and the performance are very soothing. Ms. Yolen did a great job conveying feeling into her reading.

The story's not action packed enough for my 3 year old, but I think he'll like it as he gets a little older.

A peaceful and involving story

What made the experience of listening to Owl Moon the most enjoyable?

My daughter is both calmed and completely absorbed by this book. Nothing else does that except for blueberries for sal or the snowy day. Jane Yolen has definitely risen to the heights of children's storytelling and I can only be grateful!

What about Jane Yolen’s performance did you like?

her sense of timing combined with her soothing tones.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

hah! it's only 8 minutes. Unless you have a one year-old I'd say yes.
