Where are the pictures?

We've been slowly going through and buying the books in the With Synchronized Images category. This one was placed in that category but doesn't show any illustrations other than the cover image - I wish we could get the illustrated audiobook version or exchange it for one that has pictures!

a children's classic read in a great way

the story is a children's classic of a donkey with a Magic Pebble. You see as he comes into a predicament and tries to get out of it. the reader does a great job of changing his voice up and down

Great story and reading

My son loved Dr. DeSoto, so I’m trying other books by Williams Stein. We all loved this one too!

My kids ask for this story all the time.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is a good story and entertaining to listen to.

What does Rex Robbins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It feels more animated than when I read it.

Any additional comments?

Love all the background music. Really adds to the feel of the story.

Excellent classic story and production!

Any additional comments?

The Weston Woods productions for young children are wonderful! Please add more of these and similar productions by Scholastic, etc. (classic picture books with narration) to Audible catalog.

PICTURES INCLUDED!!

This is a perfect picture story book for young kids ages 3-6. My grandson, age 4 1/2, loves it. Audiobooks for kids should ALL include all the pictures, as this one does! Pictures make it great and absolutely worth the price, and these illustrations are terrific. The story is Wiiliam Steig's usual blend of humor, pathos, action, magical elements, strong morals/positive messages, and a happy ending. The narrator is very good. The only reason I'm not rating it five stars is that the narrator is not quite Meryl Streep, and the story not quite every bit as fabulous as The Amazing Bone. Also, although the sound effects (birds chirping, rain, thunder, etc.) add a lot to the total experience, the music is occasionally a tad intrusive and almost competing with the voice of the narrator.
