Meditation makes you more productive because it lets you earn back time. For each minute you spend meditating, you'll earn around nine minutes back, as Chris Bailey - author of The Productivity Project and Hyperfocus - will show in this candid and counter-intuitive guide to the productivity benefits of meditation.

How to Train Your Mind digs deep into the practical, tactical benefits of a meditation practice - and how to integrate a meditation ritual into your own life. In addition to calming your mind and allowing you to slow down in an overanxious world, research shows that meditation can de-stimulate your mind so you can think more clearly, procrastinate less, and be more effective at everything you do - at work and at home.

Featuring guided meditations designed to fit your busy, unpredictable schedule, How to Train Your Mind is the ideal guide for anyone looking to improve productivity without sacrificing time. While much has been written about the spiritual and intangible benefits of meditation, as far as our productivity is concerned, meditation is in a league all its own.

This was a great find, I’m glad I gave it an opportunity. I absolutely loved the walking meditation strategy. Thank you.

I have been meditating on and off for at least 3 years already but never consistently. After hearing this one I promess to do at least 2 mins everyday (as recommended by atomic habits).
This book contains a lot of beginner friendly information about what meditation is, what is not, and how to do it "correctly".
I have listened to it already twice and it has a lot of hidden gems if you take the time to listen to it. One of my faves was to do mindful shores as for me is something that I procrastinate a lot but in retrospective I kinda enjoy once I'm doing it.
Thank you and I hope this book brings more awareness to meditation as it has also helped me throughout my depression attacks.

Straight to the point and well written

The soothing cadence of the narrators voice can lead you either into a quick mediation or lull you to sleep. Either is fine. Overall the skill of how to create and maintain a meditation practice is above par.

Easily Digestible

Although it’s too repetitive and annoying sometimes, you can consume the idea and content when you slow down the narration speed.

I have read other meditation books in the past but none have been focused on productivity. All of the books that I have read have been focused on the mental and physical health benefits of meditation. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. It motivated me to become more consistent with my meditation habit, and I found many of the tips very practical to make this habit stick.

A different (but wonderful) take on meditation

Finally, a book written for us mortals! Dear Chris, thanks for saving us all from all the fluff. I will recommend THIS book to those who really want to understand what meditation is and what its true benefits are. This book is pure wisdom.

A-MA-ZING

I’ve been struggling with motivation for months. And it’s been taking a huge toll on my mental health and self-image. I was in the dumps, which made my emotions run more wild and my productivity suffer even more. I was in an endless loop of negative self talk. I listened to all types of self-help and motivation books in the last month, including the infamous David Goggins, Can’t Hurt Me. While that book is amazing for its own reasons, it didn’t help me. I listened to some others that had a similar message of “Just Do It.” The problem is when you’re stuck in a a negative feedback loop it sucks all your focus and energy. You have nothing left. No energy to even find emotion. You eventually become so numb that the idea of “being the toughest man on earth”, doesn’t even register a blip on your adrenaline radar. I listened to some that got into philosophy about life, which helped to pull me out of the negative self-talk, but still didn’t help with focus at work, so I just kept getting sucked back into the hole of negative emotion because my I value my ability to concentrate so much. It’s how I earn my living and I was failing at it miserably. Then I listened to this and began a meditation practice. I’ve done it a few times in the past sporadically, but this time I became disciplined with it. In a few days I noticed I was able to calm my mind easier, allowing me to focus on my work. Then now that I can focus, at least for part of the day, I started getting things done. Even focused for per life the day I was able to catch back up on my work, and then I found myself in a positive reinforcement loop. This is after a few days of listening to this and practicing. I’m going to continue practicing on a daily basis and see if I can turn this momentum into something unstoppable. :)
