Publisher's summary

ATF special agents, Thayne Wolfe, and his partner, Jarrett Evans, have gotten into sticky situations in the past but nothing prepares them for the daunting task of being loaned out to a coal mine in West Virginia where Jarrett's grown up. Investigating a deadly mining explosion may be the end of them yet.

In one of the most beautiful places on earth, Jarrett is familiar with the territory, growing up working in a nearby mine for a couple years before joining the Marine Corps just after high school. When he and his partner encounter a dubious mine CEO, two ATF agents who they're tasked to investigate, and a good 'ol boy who has a pickaxe to grind, all they can hope, is to solve this case before ending up dead and buried in that mine.

From the beaches of California, to the coal-rich mountains of Appalachia, Jarrett's dubious past seems to rear its ugly head wherever they go. Join our heroes as they are forced to face danger, fear, and maybe the most frightening thing they've ever faced together...family.

Love me some Thayne and Jarrett

I absolutely love Thayne and Jarrett. We get to see more character growth in book 3. We also get to learn more about Jarrett’s past and family. I learned some new stuff about coal mining. I couldn’t stop listening to this installment. Finished it the same day I got it.
Michael Pauley is the perfect narrator for this series. Hot, sexy, alpha guys are his forte.

6 Stars!

I absolutely love this series! I can't wait for the next audio books in the series. I would have given it 6 stars all around if I could.

I can't get enough of Jarrett and Thayne!

This review is for both the book and the audio.

I absolutely LOVED this third installment in Patricia Logan's Death and Destruction series! Jarrett and Thayne have quickly become one of my favorite couples. Slip and Slide gave us a little more focus on their relationship and the development of it than the prior two books, and it was exactly what I was hoping for! There was a lot of character development as well, for Jarrett especially. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of his past before the Marines and where he is from, and also getting to know his family. And the sex scenes? So hot! Jarrett and Thayne are absolutely combustible together. Wow. And that ending? There may or may not have been a few happy tears shed. It was perfect.

Although there was a focus on the characters and their relationship, it was balanced nicely with the coal mining case that sends them to West Virginia. I thought this case was really interesting. I found myself really intrigued by the details of the coal mining industry and culture.

The audio of this book is great. Michael Pauley does such a fantastic job bringing Jarrett, Thayne, and their friends and family to life with distinctive voices. The pacing of the audio is good and the accents are great (guys - his Jarrett? YES please!). I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series on audio as it becomes available. And I will likely be listening to this one more than a few times, to be honest. I really can't get enough of Jarrett and his "darlin'" in that voice.. mmm. Yeah.

Overall, this book and the audio both definitely get 5 stars from me. I enjoyed reading AND listening to Slip and Slide from the first page to the last. I need more Jarrett and Thayne in my life!

Slip and Slide

I swear this series just gets better with each book. I am just more and more impressed with this Authors writing each time I get through another book in this series. The amount of Research and effort she very obviously puts into these books is amazing. Like with the last book we learned a good deal of information about Fireworks. This book you get such a great deal of information about Mines, how they run properly, and the wording for different procedures and for things you would encounter in the mines. But besides all that knowledge the structure of these stories is fantastic. Its almost like they are Real Account Stories and Not Just Fiction. You get everything. Other than learning about different aspects of the things Thane and Jarrett have to deal with during their time in the ATF, you get some Humor, parts that will make you laugh out loud. Romance, the Relationship that is developing between the two men. And every single book keeps you in Suspense at the end needing to know what is going to happen to them next. I felt like this book delved even more into their relationship as a couple as well, and we see them strengthen and evolve as just "partners" to something even more and the way it progresses is just great to see.. I cannot wait to hear how the next one turns out!!
Audio - Listening to Michael Pauley during this narration was so Exciting. He puts such effort into all of the books he narrates but this one has been moved up to the top as one of my favorites now. I literally found myself on-edge, yelling at the Audio, close to the end of this book just trying to get him to hurry up to find out what happened next in the story. lol. . I haven't read the E-books, I've only listened to the Audios in this series, which I think, for me made the feeling of listening to them so much better and I will enjoy listening to them over and over.

More Jarrett and Thayne - love it!

This is one of the best series out there and Michael Pauley is definitely the voice for the series.
This time, we get to learn a bit more about Jarrett's family life back home in W. Va. (I loved his dad and brother). The underlying mystery of who is trying to kill Jarrett takes a backseat to the current case that they're working on - the mystery of a deadly mining accident. I love how there are 2 story lines - the unresolved issue with Jarrett and the main story of each book.

Mr. Pauley perfectly portrays Jarrett's slight country drawl with a bit of roughness and Thayne's smooth cadence. Add in the other characters and their accents and you have a great performance!
Combine the audio with a kickass story and you have audio gold! :) I love the series!
I'm waiting rather impatiently for the next books (yes, I want all the audios as soon as humanly possible).

Even though I was gifted a copy, the review is my own and was not solicited or requested.

I love Thane and Jarrett

This is actually the 4th time that I have listened to the series. I just love how Thane and Jarrett are with each other. I have tried to tell other friends that they should read the series and they always say that they don’t want to read a gay romance/thriller. A friend finally read book 1 and then she listened to the entire series. I asked her how she liked the books and she said that she loved them, that Thane and Jarretts love for each other was just so special. My response was exactly love is love.

Another great addition to the series!!!

I love this series so far. Michael Pauley does an exceptional job portraying all the characters! I definitely recommend this book for anyone who likes M-M romance!

I’m hoping audible records the rest of the series because there is a preview of book 4 at the end of the book and it sounds like it will be another great adventure with Thayne and Garret! Pleaseeee record the rest of the series!

Jarrett’s family is awesome!

I love this installment so much. Getting into jarrett’s family history, his hometown, all the southern dynamics, was everything I didn’t know I absolutely required. Plus I loved that Thayne got a baptism by fire into the Evans Family. He’s so protective of his man it’s delicious. The local story was intriguing and totally kept my attention but the ongoing “who’s trying to kill Jarrett” theme, and now his father’s full involvement, has me so completely sucked in to this series, and even more than I thought possible, to Jarrett and Thayne. It’s a pivotal book in the series for so many reasons. And Michael Pauley is crazy phenomenal.

Murder and Mayhem

What's not to love about this series. Once again Thayne and Jarrett save the day. And while doing that their love grows for each other. I'm convinced they have nine lives. And we still don't know what and whom from Jarrett's past is trying to destroy him. But with Thayne on his side he can get thru amything.

Going deep in West Virginia

Lots of action in and out of the bedroom while Thayne and Jarrett check out a mining "accident" in West Virginia. We get to meet some of Jerrett's family in this one.
