Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

😒 creepy underage vibes/horrible narration

You have to be kidding me. I couldn’t even get past the first few chapters. I’m into spice but not when it’s super weird. UNDERAGE female with a man in his 40s who’s possessive and creepy with her… I can already see where this is going. Another encounter that’s almost a r*pe scene. Main character said if it went farther it would be her fault which is gross when she practically begged him to stop. This book weirds me out. Also, the narrators need to be fired for that atrocious performance. Literally the most monotoned woman ever and then the male narrator does what I *think* is an Indian accent that is laughable and to make it worse it sounds Scottish halfway through? Why does this book have so many good ratings?? Am I the crazy one?

I LOVE Penelope Douglas!

I just love Penelope’s books. Her stories always push the limits and help me remember how real life and emotions impact everything we choose. The depth of her character development is outstanding and always keeps me wanting more. If I had the time to read this one, I would have. The narrators, especially the males were not great. The narrator chosen for Jake sounded like he was commentating a race or fast paced competition. It was overkill and ruined Jake’s character for me.

Fantastic

I have NEVER written a book review until now. I wish I could erase my memory to read it over for the first time again.

No, just no!

I like dark nasty erotica, but this is just gross. An old uncle figure lusting after his 17 year old niece? gross. Couldn't get through it once I figured out what was happening. And the narrator, oh lord. The female was like a monotone robot. The male waaaaaay over the top dramatic. Just bad all the way around.

Obsessed!

I stayed up all night listening to it, that’s how good it was. Narration starts off a bit slow/monotone. But I hardly noticed it after a while. This will definitely be a book that I listen to again. 100% worth the credit.

Taboo AF, but I couldn’t put it down!

I’ve listened to over 145 books in the past year, and this is my very first written review. I absolutely had to because I COULD NOT put this book down. It has the perfect mix of interesting storyline, complicated characters, lots and lots of sexy smut but also a love story.
Now, I will say... the whole step-uncle, step-cousin romance is dicey. You’ll either not be bothered by it or you will. There are a couple cringe worthy moments when she calls him “uncle Jake” while in the throws, but it doesn’t come close to ruining the book. I listened and read this one bc it’s on kindle unlimited. I like to have the option to switch back and forth. The only narrator I found annoying was Jake. The rest were great. Great character development and an ending perfectly wrapped up in a bow. READ THIS BOOK!!!

Straight up this is TOXIC gaslighting nonsense

If you're into books where the asshole gets away with everything because he's broken and damaged with mommy issues this book is for you, I rolled my eyes more times than I care to say this book has moments where you are like ok this is fun but then drops into some unbelievably toxic abusive behavior disguised as a confused bad boy in love so give him a break he only treats you like garbage because he doesn't know better narrative and its drives me crazy. If that's your Jam then give it a read but if you're over toxic masculinity and the bad boy narrative give this a pass.. also the narration is brutal too as an added bonus

Crazy good

This one was not my typical read. It was much darker and the content was a bit more taboo for me. But I loved it! I ended up getting the actual book and reading instead of listening to the audiobook. The narration was not great. I found that I enjoyed the story so much more without the narrators. The female they use was so monotone that it was hard to listen beyond that. But the story is so great… Steamy But with so much heart. Highly recommend reading the book

Sitting on a fence

Love Penelope’s writing, the taboo side of this story was a little hard to fully commit to. But still listened to it all so couldn’t have bothered me that much! Performances were great! Wish there was an alternative ending!

Worth a read - good but not great

The book started very slowly and the pace didn’t improve much throughout. Despite that it was a good book and I would definitely recommend it. This was my first book by Penelope Douglas and I will be reading more of her books. I love the way she exploded the emotions of different characters and how their past traumas influenced their lives. The narrators were good but Tierman’s voice was annoyingly slow, maybe it was a reflection of her depression or something…. But, overall, the cast did a really good job.

A bit disapointed for the first time!

Narration good.
Story not as good as I would expect for Penelope Douglas. Best moment is when he comes and puts the swing for her and talks.
I wouldnt listen to it again unlike all other books written by her.

Love this Audio & book!

Read the book and loved it and the audio doesn’t let it down. Sometimes audio voice overs can let down a book but this was great. Voices matched how I’d imagine the characters to be. One of my all time favs.

Did not finish.

I'm not sure why, but for some reason just couldn't get into the book. I had high hopes, because absolutely loved Punk 57 and Birthday Girl by the same author, I was both apprehensive and eager to learn what was going to happen with three men and a young woman but I really never get to it. Maybe just the book wasn't going where I thought it was going to go and that's why I couldn't get into it, who knows.
And also, as some other reviewers have mentioned, did not like performance of Jake's chapters. The problem with several narrators is that too often they maybe interpret differently the style of the book and therefore are basically reading different books. That's what I feel happened here. It was like listening to a different book with different characters when Jake came on.

Loved it

What a book!
I read this book with an open mind knowing what was going to happen between the four of them from reading some reviews on YouTube but it was so beautifully written that it didn’t feel wrong or sleazy and it made easier to read knowing that they were not blood related. I live for books that are very taboo and this one did not disappoint. That ending too was just perfect👌Now on to Punk57

Love this

I first read this as an ebook but listening to it is a whole new experience. The narrators did an amazing job and gave new life to the story. This book hits me emotionally every time and I relate so much to tiennan. Each character is going through something and finds that missing piece in her as well as her in them. I love their dynamic and the way they break down those emotional walls in each other. I absolutely love Kaleb and I know he can be brash but I love him. He’s so misunderstood and how far he comes in the story is beautiful. Absolutely recommend this to everyone who is looking for something angsty and emotionally impactful with a lot of sexual tension and spice.

Not sure.

If you think about this story too much, there are many things which make some people uncomfortable. Does the end help you get over the uncomfortable situations. For some, and you can read it in the reviews for this book, it causes them to not finish the story.
For others the relationship between the characters, adds to the story.
I enjoyed the story.
Narration was good althpugh the story line follow a predictable path.

It’s like 3 different love stories combined

The books was extremely compelling n well written but it was confusing in the sense that she should of just stuck to one male interest for the hole book or keep them all present through it. She falling for one 1 minute than he’s like push to back burner then it the next guy than next. U set there wondering what about the first guy.

Coming of Age

I loved this story. OK, its a little taboo, but the story behind it is heartbreaking and beautiful.

The 2 main characters have had traumatic events happen to them, which has led to both becoming detached from life and other people. This is story of coming of age, recovery and unconditional love.

Warning, she sleeps with her (NON-Blood) uncle and cousins. If you can't have an open mind about this and understand its a part of her journey, then this book probably isn't for you.
