Publisher's Summary

From the USA Today best-selling author of Sunshine Beach, a story of four women trying to rebuild more than their lives.

Before you can fix it up, you might have to tear it down....

Embroiled in a battle to regain control of their renovation turned reality TV show, Do Over, Maddie, Avery, Nikki, and Kyra find themselves holding tight to the frayed ends of their friendship and relationships.

Maddie must face the realities of dating a rock star once again topping the charts and deal with her hapless ex-husband while Avery is caught up in family drama even as she attempts to transform a tiny cottage into a home for the newly impoverished heiress who helped bankroll their last renovation. Put on bedrest, a hugely pregnant Nikki can't quite believe love can last or trust in her own maternal instinct. And Kyra, who has secretly put Bella Flora at risk in an attempt to salvage Do Over, must decide whether to accept a desperately needed bailout from her son's famous father that comes with far too many strings attached....

But friendship is made for times like these, to keep each other - and their dreams - from crumbling.

Please don't end Beach Road Series

Would you listen to One Good Thing again? Why?

I've read the entire Ten Beach Road Series. I've come to know the characters and I really like the story line.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I think I like Madeline Singer the best, as she seems to hold all the other characters together. it would be interesting to see a story with just Maddy and Will or Nikki and Joe. I could really see a spin off there.

Which character – as performed by Amy Rubinate – was your favorite?

I like all of them.Amy Rubinate does a really good job discriminating between characters.

If you could take any character from One Good Thing out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Madeline Singer

Any additional comments?

This is a really good series. I enjoy the story line. I can relate to all the area as I live here.

Love this story.

I am so happy to discover Wendy Wax and her Beach series. This series reminds me of my beloved Virgin River series ... the writing is excellent as is the narration (Amy Rubinate) ... now on the book #6. Thank you Wendy!!

I love these characters, but...

I've loved this series and am really happy that the narrator has remained consistent. She does a great job with the book, and it's nice to have the continuity.

That said, I feel like Wendy Wax may be stretched thin on ideas for these characters. This book magnifies everyone's insecurities, to the point where I felt like they were walking around feeling whiny and sorry for themselves. These were strong, likable women, and while these are insecurities they always had, the book spends too much time dwelling on them as opposed to finding an interesting story for them. I kept getting annoyed listening to the same thing over and over again. The past is also rehashed a ton, as opposed to once, as a reminder or fill-in for new people to this group.

I admit I'll probably buy the next one too - because I've been sucked in, and I hope that things improve. Maybe the next book can send a few of them to therapy so they can figure out how to feel better about themselves.

Cliche

If I had to hear about "William Hightower's seminal hit, 'Mermaid in You'", or "when her husband lost everything, including his job, to Malcolm Dyer's Ponzi scheme" one more time...

The Women Move On

I enjoyed the audiobook version of this novel, Amy Rubinate again did an excellent narration. This was less about the women doing up a place and endeavouring to sell, rather their relationships with the people closest too them. Marriage for one pair, a step back for another, one step forward for another. While there were a few things left hanging I still felt there was closure and I wouldn't need another in the series.
