Publisher's Summary

Young Billie Ames naively fell for the exciting pilot Moss Coleman at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during World War II. Within a few months, she was pregnant, married, and traveling across the country to Austin...to the 250,000-acre spread known as Sunbridge and into the tantalizing world of the Texas rich. In a vast land dominated by the industrious Colemans, Billie fights to maintain control of her life and her marriage.

Awful Southern Accent

Seriously?! This reader shouldn't have even bothered! It was soooo annoying! I loved the story, but that southern accent almost made it unbearable!

Trite- and has the author ever been to Texas?

This was a complete waste of time. It is a trite story wrapped around stereotypes. Seriously, the dialogue must come from John Wayne movies, but it’s set in the 40’s-90’s.... if I heard one more “little lady” I would have pulled my hair out. I don’t think the author has ever visited Texas, much less gotten to know our people. I truly can’t believe this got published.

Dynasty Meets Jerry Springer

I was expecting historical drama but sadly Texas Rich featured mostly obnoxious, narcissistic idiots with few redeeming qualities. It was incredibly depressing to listen to an entire family of entitled, wealthy people too self-absorbed to enjoy life. What a waste of time: mothers who pimp out daughters, fathers who only want sons, grandparents who manipulate everyone. And absolutely no romance, just lots of dysfunctional relationships.

So slow, boring

I love Fern Michael's books. I was excited that this was a long one but it awful. It is slow, uninteresting and not worth your time or money.

Awful, bitter, long winded book.

Depressing story about Billie, her selfish mother and husband Moss.
I thought this book was written by a man a few times because it was so dismissive of women. Moss is controlling, manipulating, and unfaithful.
Billie is a dish rag being used by everyone including her children.
Her mother and Seth get what's coming but so far into the book I could hardly muster any gratitude.
I think it tries to capture the turmoil and grandeur of Gone with the Wind, but it fails miserably. Speeding through the years like they don't matter. If only it was 25 hours shorter.
Spoiler she never divorces Moss, although on his deathbed he finally tells her he loves her, but Billie stopped caring for him deeply decades ago.
