Publisher's Summary

Maddie Townsend might live in a town called Serenity, but there's been nothing calm or peaceful about her life since her marriage broke up. This stay-at-home mom has no job skills, an out-of-control 16-year-old son, a talkative 14-year-old who's suddenly gone silent, a 6-year-old daughter whose heart is broken, an ex-husband whose younger girlfriend is expecting their baby, and two best friends who think she's somehow qualified to help them open a fitness spa for women.

But if Maddie is a tad on edge with all that on her plate, it's nothing compared to the chaos that ensues when she discovers that her son's baseball coach has feelings for her and the whole town disapproves. Maddie's faced a lot of challenges lately with strength and resolve, but Cal Maddox may turn out to be more than she can handle. Then again, he could just be the one man in all of South Carolina who can help her find serenity.

Indignantly usage

Not sure why I noticed so much but the word indignantly was used every 10 minutes it seemed like; which made the story not as interesting.

eh...

I got this book after I watched the Netflix series. Gotta say I enjoyed the Netflix series more than this book. I couldn't get past the first 5 chapters. I wanted to see Maddie acknowledge her children's pain instead of saying that they must speak more respectful to adults. I get it but they are hurting. Anyways, I LOVE Helen's character on the series but not so much in the book. Maybe I should have given a bit more time but it just felt.....eh.

Shallow but sweet

It was a happy go lucky story with a happy ending. It was a nice way to pass the time when I walk but I found it a bit shallow and unrealistic.

Why did I wait so long? So much fun!

Absolutely loved book #1 of the Sweet Magnolias series. I'm not sure what took me so long to start this one, but so glad I did. Stina Nielsen did a great job bringing the town of Serenity to life, and it's cast of fun characters into my heart.
I think what I loved most about the women in this story, is their tenacity, and their tight-knit bond they have forged.
It's so great in a story to see women supporting other women.
I can't wait to listen to more of this series, and more from this author!
Highly recommend for those out there who love a great contemporary romance book.

Very nice romance

Very heartwarming and relaxing book. Following Maddie's emotions after long time marriage ended and getting onto the new chapter in her life was a pleasure.

Fantastic story!!

I read this book when it was first released in 2007. This series is one of my Top 5 series that i’ve read in my lifetime. Sheryl Woods has such a relaxed and easy to read writing style; she is a true story teller. Stina Neilson an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality.
