Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Cowboys and Angels series comes an intricate romance that asks the question: Can love heal the pain of the past?

Longing to forget the pain of his wife’s death, Brock Shaw has immersed himself in the one thing that lets him escape the guilt. Bull riding. But life on the road means leaving his young son at home with his parents. They want him to give up his career and be a father to his child, but Brock needs the adrenaline to get through each day…or so he thinks.

Lincoln Pratt needs a fresh start. As a top interior designer in Atlanta, she has everything she could ever want, but she’s always at her father’s mercy. Something’s missing, and Lincoln knows she’ll only find it somewhere far away - like the rolling pastures of Hamilton, Montana, where she meets the irresistibly mysterious Brock.

In Brock Shaw, Lincoln sees the part of her that’s missing. In Lincoln Pratt, Brock sees the part of himself he thought he’d lost. But the pain of his past binds him. Can he let himself love again?

OK but…...

OK, spoiler alert before you read this review. I like the writing but why do her heroines always get pregnant using contraception. Seriously every single time. I’ve read countless books by her where they get pregnant while using condoms, birth control, or both. Why? Just why

Totally loved this story

This story was funny, heartwarming and romantic. Brock had a hard time dealing with Lincoln when she bought his old house because of his past. He wasn't very nice to her until he got to really know her then both their lives changed for the better. I really enjoyed their romance and all the characters in this story, especially Brock's son Blaze. Blaze cracked me up most of the story. I thought the narration was as also great. I can't wait to listen to the next audiobook in the series!

Laughed and Loved

I truly think Blayze stole the show in this book. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I loved the strength in Lincoln and the humility in Brock. Can't wait until Book 2 comes out.

Sweet, fun story

This is my first time reading Kelly Elliot and I enjoyed it. It was a sweet story where Lincoln moves to Montana and buys Brock's house. Brock is a damaged person who lost his wife and blames himself for the loss. There's a lot of push and pull because Brock isn't sure that he deserves happiness. It wasn't really that angsty though- things were resolved generally quickly for the reader. I loved the supporting characters, especially Blayze, Brock's son, and I'm really looking forward to Ty and Kaylee's story. I have a feeling that while these stories are standalone, it's best to read in order because we see the beginning of Ty and Kaylee's story in this book. Overall, this book did a great job of setting the stage for the whole series.

The audiobook was fun too. I think Alexander Cendese did a good job, very high energy and he managed it throughout the book which was impressive. He did a good job with the different voices although Blayze and Lincoln's voices were a little overdone. But still, it was easy to differentiate with the voices. Gabrielle Cendese did a great job as well. I really enjoyed listening to the narration.
