Publisher's Summary

It's the most wonderful time of the year...and the perfect moment to escape to a charming English village! From the beloved author whose novels are "sheer indulgence from start to finish" (Sophie Kinsella) comes a delightful holiday story - funny, heartfelt, romantic, and packed with recipes - perfect for the winter months.

In the Cornish coastal village of Mount Polbearne, the Christmas season has arrived. It's a joyous time for family, friends, and feasting, as decorations sparkle along the town's winding streets and shop windows glow with festive displays. And in Polly's Little Beach Street Bakery, the aroma of gingerbread cookies and other treats tempts people in from the cold.

Though Polly is busy keeping up with the demands of the season, she still makes time for her beekeeper boyfriend, Huckle. She's especially happy to be celebrating the holiday this year with him and can't wait to cuddle up in front of the fireplace with a cup of eggnog on Christmas Eve.

But holiday bliss soon gives way to panic when a storm cuts the village off from the mainland. Now it will take all of the villagers to work together in order to ensure everyone has a happy holiday.

Full of heart and humor, Jenny Colgan's latest novel is an instant Christmastime classic.

I had such a lovely time with this book

This book was exactly what I needed. I love these characters, what a mish mash with little and yet so much to recommend them. Perfect story for this time of the year. I cannot do the things I once did so easily, this book took my mind right into it and thoroughly entertained me. Thank you truly.

struggled

The last few minutes didn't make up for hours of misery . No southern man sounds like poor Huckle.

Magical

I really enjoyed this book. The story and the atmosphere where perfectly described. The only thing that bothered me was Huckles accent. I’ve never meet anyone from Virginia with such a deep
Southern accent like that. Besides that very charming.

Book not as described

This book was described as a charming little cottage bakery Christmas story. Rather; the book was written about a woman with a troubled past that could not commit to her fiancé, her friend who committed adultery and believed she was giving birth to another man’s baby; and although all was sorted in the end this was not a charming bakery Christmas book by ANY means.

I never get tired of Jenny Colgan

I thoroughly enjoyed another wonderful book. I found myself not able to put this book down. I could not wait to read and listen to what happened next.
My only complaint would be the southern american accent of Huckle, but otherwise I looooved this book and the unfailing love of Polly and Huckle!!

Worst southern accent ever

Enjoyed the story very much but every time she read as Huckle I cringed. I can't believe they would publish something so badly read.

Great characters and story, awesome narrator!

I loved listening to this! The narrator's voice was so pleasant with her beautiful British accent. The voices were believable and not annoying. Also the writing was great. Interesting and thoughtful but not really sad or depressing. Must read!
