Publisher's Summary

"Listeners will be transported to the small Southern town of Wicklow by the drawls and laid-back pacing of the narrators.... This is a beautiful story of family, love, and forgiveness." (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner)

Heather Webber's Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe is a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm.

Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café.

It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.

As the truth about her past slowly becomes clear, Anna Kate will need to decide if this lone blackbird will finally be able to take her broken wings and fly.

Relaxing, interesting, sweet.

Very enjoyable book, interesting subject, nothing to dread or get upset about. Fabulous readers. I’ll buy other titles from this author.. I’m tired of murders, kidnappings, and all kinds of violence in my audiobooks. This one is like a balm, without getting cloying on romance, or boring on nothing happening. I sincerely recommend it,

Sappy, predictable and unnecessarily long !

A contrived story with such long rambling dialog and implausible situations that I struggled to stay interested. I was tempted to quit so many times, but stuck it out because of favorable reviews. In the end, I found it sappy, predictable and unnecessarily long.

The narrator's ruined it for me

This is a good book. The author did a wonderful job. It's a fair audiobook. The narrarators confused me at times as I sometimes didn't know who's perspective it was. Some of the voices were just down right annoying. prime example being Ollie, the small child. Call me a terrible person, but I wanted to ring that kids neck just because the narrararator was loud and made it like nails on the chalkboard. The bad part was her part in the book was to show the innocence and love of a child. she was meant to be a loveable child and the narrator made me want to cut her out of the book all together. This book would be better off read the old fashioned way.

Solid 3 Star

Being a southerner myself I appreciated the feel of this story. The female narrators did an excellent job on the southern twang and made it feel very authentic. The story however I feel like was just predictable. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I kept waiting on something to happen, but it didn’t really. The story just continued on in the same “tone”. I was really hoping for an epilogue too. I didn’t hate it but was left just feeling meh.

What a delightful story!

I thought I’d made a mistake in choosing this book when I listened to the first chapter, but by the second, I was absolutely hooked! The narrator was so good and slipped in and out of the different characters with ease. I want a sequel to see what happens in the future of these wonderful characters

Charming story with a wonderful cast of characters

An engrossing story about small town charm and the complicated relationships thru generations. It was my first book by Heather Webber and I look forward to listening to others.

Slow and steady

This story unwinds very gently around the characters in a small town. Don’t be in a hurry even though some of the detail is tedious. Satisfying ending and very well read.
