It's Good. Nothing New Though.

Shawn does a great job explaining and his humor is on-point. He is fair in his assessments of food and he does provide caveats.. Unfortunately, he doesn't really provide any new information with regard to nutrition.

Shawn keeps it real, takes off the kid gloves and delivers the research that holds the truth.
Eat Smarter is NOT delivering a quick fix...they don’t work y’all...you have to actually DO the work!
And the work is eating better quality food.

Gives us the knowledge to make our own decisions…

This book is not about perfection, it’s about giving us the knowledge to help improve our health wherever we are at in our life today.
I’ve been listening to Shawn for years through his The Model Health Show Podcast where he interviews experts that are known from all over. He has helped me in so many more ways than he’ll ever know. He’s information has provided me the foundation I needed to heal my own body after dealing with health issues for years. Through his teachings he’s got me fascinated with the health of our bodies using nutrition, sleep, exercise, and more. Over the last five years, I have read and listened to more than 4,000 hours of books and podcasts that cover nutrition and health. I love listening to him and I'm so glad he's reading his own book! It’s obvious he’s spent years of researching and consolidating peer-reviewed evidence-based studies, so we don’t have to. So thankful for all he has done for me and others through his teaching. There have been so many books I’ve wanted and tried to share with family and friends, but I knew it would be too overwhelming for them. In Eat Smarter, Shawn does a wonderful job, as always, at breaking everything down in a way that it’s easy for others to digest the information and really understand what is going on within you body. He covers how your hormones work, or are suppose to work, along with how different foods affect our bodies. Within, Eat Smarter he breaks down the myths we have been taught throughout our life while providing us highlights from fascinating studies. He also throws in some great humor to keep it fun and entertaining.
For anyone looking to improve loose weight, improve gut health, or wants to just learn more of how the body communicates this is the book for you! He does a great job at staying high level to keep the amount of information digestible. He also provides a game plan for long-term lasting success in staying healthy along with delicious and tasty recipes that give you great nutrition, too.
He gives us the information we need to make educated food decisions and not subscribe to a specific diet as we have been taught in the past. Makes me curious and think of even more questions I would love for him to cover in Eat Smarter Too (fingers-crossed).

The best book to kick off this new year!

This book is amazing and it’s very detailed in dues and don’ts with creating a vibrant vitality lifestyle. Shawn’s storytelling and puns throughout the book are hilarious and are captivating to your attention keep engagement with your mind as the book unravels this well needed information. Life changing experience

I heard Shawn on an YouTube interview and bought the book right away. I’ve applied these principles and my life has changed completely. I lost over 60lbs so far (8 weeks) and this is just the beginning of the rest of my life. I sleep better and achieve so much more in my life - and I’m hardly ever hungry anymore. Thank you Shawn.

Not your average dieting book

*Buy the book, but skip the intro*

Shawn did it again, a book full of valuable, life-changing information and advice in an easily-digestible form. After finishing Sleep Smarter, I was thrilled to dive into this treat - and I wasn't disappointed!

It's definitely not your average dieting book. It doesn't tell you to eat according to a specific plan, but gives you the building blocks to build the diet that works for YOU. The author constantly reminds that these are just general rules and you should always check in with your body to see if they work for your metabolism.

The author has nailed not only the writing of the book, but also the narration, as his voice is pleasant to listen to and he perfectly emphasizes the correct parts of the text, making the most important information stand out well.

This book gives you pretty much all the tools you need to step up your food game. I have yet to check out the 30-day plan, or execute it, but I definitely will. However, the information can be too much. I have trouble remembering everything he listed. Were blueberries recommended for fat loss or cognitive functions, what has the benefit of reishi mushrooms etc. - just have a notebook nearby and you'll be fine!

If I had to criticize the book for something, it would be the constant hard selling - like, come on, I already bought the book! Especially the very first chapter, the introduction, felt like the author is just trying to sell the book to you by all means. I feel like that was just lost time. It's like listening to an ad. This continues in small amounts throughout the book, especially at the end of each chapter, where he's touting the next chapter. Oh, and the book would probably be 30 minutes shorter without the "find more information about this at eatsmarterbook.com/bonus" and references to the accompanying PDF.

But that's only a minor nuisance, for this book is otherwise golden. The next good thing :

The book is fun!
"What?? How can a non-fiction book about eating be fun?" Well, listen and find out!
With references to movies and movie characters, clever and silly metaphors, unexpected wordplays and overall many good-taste jokes scattered across the book, Shawn has made this book an example of how even a non-fiction book can be entertaining. I was giggling every once in a while to the jokes, that didn't feel forced but fit in well and it made me engage with the book even more. Many of the movie and TV references I didn't completely understand as a non-American, but I still found most of them funny.

Overall, I loved this book and will definitely put its advice into use. Thanks Shawn!

A breath of fresh air

The author spoke with authenticity and authority. It was easy to listen to based on the latest research. He had real world insight based on lived experience. Is aware that one size fits none and has lessons for life, relationships and even walks us through profiles that might fit and a goal setting template for success.

I recommend this book to everyone. Especially those of a geeky disposition 🙌🏾👏🏾

Like getting really good advice from someone who believes it himself

I really enjoyed this book and I will probably listen to it again. It reminded me a lot of Gin Stephens way of writing. (Delay Don’t Deny) It’s a lot of regular common sense things…….nothing the average person couldn’t at least try……I’ve been intermittent fasting for almost a year with great results ( not that this book is about that) but I want to keep up making good food choices for my family and myself. I’m going to buy Sleep Smarter next.
