Publisher's summary

The race to control a newly discovered ancient alien technology threatens to tear civilization apart.

Master Sergeant Cole Shaw and his team of mech operators are on the front lines of the new war. But instead of mechs, they pilot bioengineered beasts called Sentinels. Only they can stop the Imperial Alliance from unleashing a devastating alien weapon with unparalleled power.

Shaw’s team is sent to a colony planet where rebels clash with government forces, intergalactic empires vie for influence in the shadows, and monstrous feral creatures wreak havoc in forests as deadly as they are beautiful. Amid the chaos, Shaw must make tenuous alliances with untrustworthy forces and face impossible decisions with catastrophic consequences. If he doesn’t succeed, then it’s not just his team’s lives at stake - it’s all of mankind.

Dreadnaught is the long-awaited second book in the Deadmen’s War series. Pacific Rim meets Starship Troopers in this thrilling military sci-fi series.

Story continues...

Overall I have enjoyed the book and the storyline. Sometimes, however, I thought that too much detail went into describing the battles or certain situations that may have taken away from the main story. As always, great performance by R.C. Brey.

Tough decision

Many times in this genre, I end up reading books that seem to have stories that are somewhat slow and drawn out with a sprinkling of action to keep things entertaining.
These books, however, come right out and punch you in the face immediately then continue to beat you senseless til the very end.
I'm torn. I love exciting action packed stories but these might be just too intense. I literally cannot read these before bed or I can't sleep. I get so wound up that they occasionally give me a stomach ache.
It is all well written but I think they need to give the reader a break once in a while. Just too much intensity.

Unique approach to mechanized battle!

The author has come up with a great universe that utilizes a biomechanics to put a new twist on mechs

Wonderful

From start to finish this book was exciting, nail biting and just plain entertaining. I’m always amazed at the talent it takes to construct a story with interesting characters and situations; A. Melchiorri is very very talented. Can not say enough good things about R.C. Bray as narrator. If you are into Science Fiction stories this series is so far well worth a listen. Book three I hope is on the way.

Dreadnaught

The first book was hard to wrap my head around because of insufficient backstory history. After that hurdle, things became clear and the second book took off and carried me on a wild ride!

Good story great performance

Good story great performance - R.C Bray is just too good of a performer. The story line is a bit slower on this book but still great quality

Great story! Fantastic storyteller!!

Not sure I wanted to listen to another military style sci-fi so soon after dead men book one. However, this story got better and better, and was quite engrossing, with many unexpected twists and turns. The storytelling was absolutely top-notch. I love the way R C Bray assumes possession of each character in a very identifiable way, with subtle voice changes. It’s remarkable really. Looking forward to deadman book 3 now :))
