Story
The Iron Wolves are a company of legionnaires whose legendary exploits date back to the Savage Wars. When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge. But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

The scum hiding deep inside the Reach out along galaxy's edge thought they could kill her and not pay the price. For years these hardened killers have run roughshod over the lawless worlds where Republic justice is never as fast as the blaster in your hand and where double-crosses and death are a part of every deal. They thought this time would be no different. They were wrong. This time, the Guild sent the legendary bounty hunter Tyrus Rechs. As the infamous Rechs pursues the men who murdered his colleague, he's hell-bent on justice.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
A price paid in blood
“The Order of the Centurion is the highest award that can be bestowed upon an individual serving in, or with, the Legion. When such an individual displays exceptional valor in action against an enemy force, and uncommon loyalty and devotion to the Legion and its legionnaires, refusing to abandon post, mission, or brothers, even unto death, the Legion dutifully recognizes such courage with this award.”
Tired of sitting out the war on Psydon in a mobile office lab, Legion Lieutenant Washam agrees to undertake a covert and unsanctioned mission with a band of Republic Recon Marines. Inserted deep behind enemy lines, the strike force uncovers a surprise key to ending a bitter war. Now they must navigate a hostile jungle teeming with murderous alien rebels, pushing themselves to the limits of their abilities, to get this vital intel to Legion Command - if they can survive that long.
The Order of the Centurion is an all-new series of stand-alone military science fiction thrillers set in the Galaxy's Edge universe, ranging from the Savage Wars to the arrival of the Black Fleet. Each book features the legendary heroes of the Legion who forgot nothing in their earning of the Legion's highest honor.

Don’t be thrown off by the new narrator
I’m as big a Bray fan boy as the next guy but Mark Boyett is a quality narrator and will do nothing to detract from the overall quality of the book. I do think his wheelhouse is on the slightly less serious end of the spectrum (he really shines in undying mercinaries) but his voice fits the genera well. Again he’s great and once you’ve adjusted you’ll love it.

The best one yet
This is it! The best Galaxy’s Edge story to date. Although many may be hesitant as RC Bray is not involved, Anspach and Cole picked the perfect narrator for this story and these characters. I can’t begin to describe how perfect of a performance this is by Mark Boyett. He captures the mood of every moment flawlessly. I am at a loss at just how unbelievably wonderful this story is.

A phenomenal new tale!
This new story is exceptionally well written. It makes a wonderful new addition to the Galaxy's Edge universe. It's a no-holds-barred story of adventure, war, and those that are burdened with its consequences. I couldn't stop listening. It grabs you and doesnt let you go until it forces you to not just hear the tale, but experience it.
I look forward to more stories like this from these authors. They've continued to churn out some of the best military sci-fi adventure I've ever had the privilege of reading. I highly recommend all of their work thus far.

Great Stand alone book so far
So i for some reason or another, i haven't started the galaxy's edge series, so i cant speak on how the narrator or story compare. As a stand alone book this feels sooooooo good. I felt like this is what Vietnam would be like, this whole book flew by. It added the right amount of detail 95% of the time, i felt each characters' actions were within reason. Everyone is a cold and calculating trained killer, but our character is a trained killer but hasn't had combat experience and that among other reasons makes him a real down to earth person that i could feel all the emotions that he felt 9/10. It's right up there with litrpg's "the land" series, i cant speak on the whole series but this book just felt..............real but please give this book a shot i want to give this book the acknowledgment that it deserves.

Amazing!
This book is an incredible work of art from beginning to end. I was really worried given that they switched narrators from the original Galaxy's Edge series, but he nailed it! I think he's even better than RC Bray.
If you're a fan of sci-fi or military books, don't even think about it. Just purchase this book, put in your earbuds, and press play. You will not be disappointed and you will not regret it!

Honor and Sacrifice
The story of Washum is compelling. It really comes together in the epilogue and how Washum is important in the Galaxy Edge part V. it was a little different to hear a Galaxy Edge book without RC Bray but Mark Boyett grows on you as the story continues.
I feel the last chapter and epilogue sums up what many war experienced service members feel today about the brotherhood with each other.

Slick, Well-Crafted Military Fiction
The choice of genre here is secondary (it could just as well been sent back through time as historical fiction) to the action oriented, relatively spiffily nuanced characterisation and solid, if not particularly original, plot.
The enemy is the enemy, the other, (in this version “dog-people”).
The good guys are competent, loyal, self-effacing , quietly heroic and flawed.
If you like your military sci-fi entertaining, understated, possessing the qualities of verisimilitude, not (overly) sentimental, well-crafted, not too deep and to the point you’ll like this one.
Fine narration.
Well worth a credit.

Strangely moving
Yes it’s bog standard mil sci-fi. Boys own type stuff but it’s so well written and performed. I bought it ages ago and having nothing else to listen to fired it up then once into it I didn’t stop till it was done.
I have to admit to even being moved close to tears a couple of times. But don’t tell anyone.

nice backstory
I tried others without bray and didnt like them but this was a great story that adds more weight to an interesting character in the main story and the naration was perfect, well done

A gem.
Quietly surprised. Just chose this kind of randomly based on the stars of others. Personally not regretting it. Not overly complicated which is what you'll get out of a 7 hour story and glad for it. Any more and it'll unnecessary waffle. Well done to the author.
