pretty good

it was a pretty good book but the gal reading it kinda ruined it

The story was slow in some spots but overall a good listen and very fun

Great story about dragons and dragon riders.

Love the tell of magic and dragons. The tell with Kings treachery is well told.

Magic and Dragons!

Bower of House Daris walks a fine line for his father, his people and his way of life, but not for long. King Maddox rules with the iron fist of the Iron Guard and his frightening ability to know everything that’s happening in Torvald. When Bower is betrayed by one he believed to be a loyal family retainer, he takes to the wilds for the adventures he’s always read about.

As prophesy would have it, Bower meets up with fiery Saffron and her Den Sister Jadra, a real dragon just like in his books. The only problem is that Saffron is going back to Torvald, the place Bower just escaped. After she saved his life, Bower can’t allow her to go there alone.

Intriguing!

Intreating, there are so many different directions the authors could have taken this series. Each book needs to be a little bit longer and there needs to be more development. A lot of whining, second guessing and self-criticism prevents the plot and the characters to really move along to who they potentially could be.

One of the best books I've ever read!

This was a lovely first story, a must read! I had been hearing about Queen saffron and King Bower for several books, when I finally found this series it was refreshing to see the story of what happened, and I tell you, the narrators could not have been a better pick, I'm definitely going to enjoy reading the second two books and I highly recommend in fact not just recommend but require you to read this book, it will be the best damn book you've ever read. and it fills in so many blanks.

review of trilogy on the whole

Overall I enjoyed this book and the other two in the series. I did have to speed up the audio play back to get past the female narrator's slow pace, but I had to find a middle ground so that I did not make the male narrator sound too sped up.

I have been trying to listen to the books in the recommended reading order suggested on the author's website. This trilogy takes place centuries after the first trilogy so the author uses the fact that over time knowledge of the past is obscured in rumors as well as the actions of the bad guy in this particular trilogy.

In the beginning of the book a baby is saved and it is thought that the baby would be an important character but it only is important in so much as the baby ends up being an ancestor of the main male character, Bower.

Also there is a lot of mention of Saffron, the main female character, being found as a baby wrapped in blanket with the name Amelia stitched in it. For whatever reason this is considered to be the mother's name and not the baby's name. but overlooking that the whole story arc of the mother is left out other than speculation by some as to why she abandoned Saffron. the speculations are reasonable but I think I would have enjoyed hearing a little more about the parents choice to give up their baby as well as where Saffron fell in the family lineage.

I found several points in the series where characters were introduced in such a way that it seemed they would play more importance later in the story arc but they were just forgotten. A great amount of importance was also put on the preservation of books/scrolls that were left with some of the previously mentioned characters and yet they were never retrieved.

Again I did enjoy the series overall, there were several points where I cried or laughed with the characters as I was absorbed in the story. I am about to start the next trilogy in the recommended order and I hope it keeps me just as well absorbed.

I'm not even sure what happened in this book I listened a couple of times. I still couldn't tell you what the hell happened it seemed like a entire story was about self-loathing. crap it's hard to pay attention to

cadence was weird

I enjoyed the book and story. I really liked how they had different narrative for the different characters. but, the cadence of the narrative was kind of choppy. easy to look past thankfully.
