Publisher's summary

From high school student to Queen of the Fae…

When a dragon bulldozes through a portal and into the grounds of her Texas school, Ophelia Monroe can barely believe her eyes. Dragons and magic are just fairy tales, right?

Then the dragon bonds with her to spite a Fae prince, and suddenly Ophelia is dragged into a different realm: a world of Fae intrigue and deception where, as Prince Corrin informs her, her dragon bond has made her Queen of the Fae.

His Queen.

Ophelia’s always wanted to make a difference, but nothing could have prepared her for magical powers she can’t control, a dragon's voice in her head, and subjects protesting her right to be queen. Or the infuriatingly handsome Fae prince who won't leave her side.

Now Ophelia must validate her claim to the throne by traveling throughout the magical realm, accompanied by Prince Corrin. But the journey reveals danger and a dark secret lurking in Charassi...

The only way to save the realm is to find the source of the trouble; but the truth may be just as terrible as the evil magic that threatens the Fae’s existence.

Get ready to dive into an unforgettable new fantasy world filled with magic, lovable (and hateable!) characters, fae curses, wise dragons and a wholesome romance.

Loved it

I love Ava’s to listen to a book I’ve already read. This was one of my favorite series to read. The story just seems to come alive when it is narrated. I love as the characters spirit comes to life. Orphelia comes face to face with a dragon who chooses to make a dragon bond with her. Her kindness and compassion for those who can’t defend themselves alone with Sunny, will take her in a direction she never dreamed of. She must fight for what is right in a world she never knew existed. Expertly narrated. Loved it.

Excellent Start to a New Series

I've listened to several audiobook series by this talented fantasy author and always come away impressed. This book starts a new series about a young American female who becomes involved with the doings and goings-on of a magical realm. A dragon and the prince trying to bond with him to ascend to the throne of the High King are on Earth, the man having brought the fight here to decrease the dragon's powers. The heroine doesn't really understand what's going on, of course, or what she should do. But we’ve seen earlier in the book that she is a strong protector, so she jumps in to defend the dragon. When the dragon’s physical body dies, it chooses to bond his spirit with hers since she had shown it compassion. Then everything changes! The world the prince brings her to is certainly a fascinating world, richly imagined and explained. Because the dragon king’s spirit has bonded with her, by their laws, she is now the High Queen, but of course, others oppose this, directly and indirectly, some wanting to keep power for themselves, others not trusting this could be the right path. So many excellent interactions and lots of great action scenes! The book ends with the heroine and the prince trapped back on Earth after the prince, who has now become her ally, has been betrayed by someone close to him. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series to see how this story continues. If you’ve read or listened to any Ava Richardson fantasy stories, you know she always writes a quality story with excellent characters and an engaging, page-turning plot. This is no exception. Highly recommended.

Dragon

This is a good young adult book, but his old lady loved it. Ophelis is human and when a dragon comes to earth she can't beleive her eyes. What will she do when she sees Corrin trying to kill it? You will enjoy listening or reading this book.

One of the few fantasy books I do enjoy!

This was a great read. Very fast pace story in my opinion. I loved the characters Ophelia and Prince Corrinn. They're personalities are very heroine-like. It's a fun read you won't regret.
The narrator did an awesome job on this book. I could tell the difference between Ophelia and Sunny's voice. There's some twist and turns in this book that kept me on my toes. I'm looking forward to the next book!

Ophelia's Adventure . . .

Ophelia Monroe is a high school student who befriends a dying dragon (Sun in the Black Sky) who then bonds himself to her. Now his living soul and magic are a part of her. She is transported to another realm where she is the High Queen of the Fae! Corrin, the Greater Prince of Charassi, wanted the dragon to bond with him which would make him the High King of the Fae. But Corrin is actually a nice guy and, since Ophelia needs to convince the people she is worthy, he goes along with her to help since she has no clue where to begin. They have to prove to the Convocation of Dragons that their Monarch “Sunny” is still alive inside of Ophelia and therefore remains their Monarch. Will they be successful?

Ophelia is not prepared to deal with uncontrollable magic, the dead dragon's voice she keeps hearing, and the antagonism of subjects upset that she has become their Queen. But if they won’t accept her, she could likely face execution. Will they believe that the Dragons have ruled in her favor? But even that isn’t the worst of her troubles… can she and Corrin solve the mystery that threatens Charassi?

This was a good story that had the perfect touch for me – a dragon. It sounds similar to other books I have read, but it was still unique enough to keep me happy and want to continue on with the next book. The narrator for the audiobook version, Mago Weston, brings the “reading” experience alive for the listener. She does an okay job with the voices to personalize the story and make it somewhat easier for the listener to get an impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize the reader with the characters, and offers a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book. I would have preferred more differentiation in male/female voices, but I was still able to figure it out.
