Got fantastic results

This book has helped me properly discipline my young kids so they are not only doing what they are supposed to, but My wife and I understand their age appropriate behavior better. We also see how we are able to set them up to succeed or fail from our examples. I have had the book for a few weeks and have implemented some of the concepts with fantastic results.

Helpful methods

This book, and the ideas and methods behind Positive Discipline, are totally usable. That's my favorite thing about it. The ideas and psychology in the book have completely changed my outlook on parenting, and the way I view my relationship with my kids. The application of said ideas is simple and do-able. Most every idea has been very easily incorporated into our lives.

Shows a lot of practical tools

The book is a very good parenting resource for parenting without using punitive methods. It's also a great overview of the philosophy and has a lot of practical tools that are easily implemented. Every parent should have it in their tool box.

Helpful concepts

This book is all about encouraging children to be happy and self-disciplined. I'd recommend it to any parent, particularly those whose babies are little, since it's easy to understand the concepts but easier still to incorporate them when the children are young and habits haven't taken hold.

Amazing ideas made my children disciplined

This book offers some amazing ideas that I believe children everywhere would greatly benefit from. It explains why "kids these days" don't have the same sense of responsibility and respect that they had in the past. There is a strong focus on letting go of the idea that making a child feel worse will then make them do better. The focus is on solutions and long-term outcome...not punishment and immediate behavior. It is not, however, about "letting them get away with it" (whatever "it" may be). It explains the difference between praise and encouragement, a difficult but important distinction.

Provides lots of effective steps

This book has effective steps to follow in order to put all that theoretical knowledge into practice. I am only on chapter three and am already seeing improvements in our relationship and both of our behaviors. Not only that, these new patterns are sustainable, whereas, with some of the other books I follow the advice for a while, but they go out the door during times of stress. I've told friends before that good parenting is for families who can afford to have a parent stay at home. lol. This book acknowledges the chaos of contemporary life and gives you ways of maintaining a connection even when there is a lot of stress. It is also helping me discover a lot of things about myself, which other books attempt but will honestly involve years of work before I can put their concepts into action.

Best!

I've listened most of the non-spanking parenting books in an effort to raise a respectful, happy, and productive child. I came from a very strict and abusive background with no good example for doing this. I have listened lots of books that are theoretical, but when it comes to applying their recommendations, I am having trouble bridging the gap between what I was taught as a child and what I want for my kid. But this one is the best as works well.

Well explained book!

This is an incredibly well explained book! I now understand how to be a more effective parent, helping my kids grow to be capable and independent. I no longer engage in fights and power struggles. I wait to cool down before trying to figure out how to solve a problem with my kids. I take better care of myself, so I have more to give to my family. I have a better understanding of why I am the way that I am, and I've learned to appreciate others more for who they are. Our house is a much calmer and happier place!

Very effective!

I still feel that anyone with intense interest in their children will find that common sense wins out! This is great for the parent who doesn't have a clue about their child's needs and addresses the way that a parents behavior affects a child! Any behavior good or not so good! We all need to think beyond our needs after we brought a new life into this complicated world!

Great listen!

Great book with really important information inside. Fairly easy listen. I like the examples it provides, because you can remember a time where you were one of the given parents in the situations, which helps with learning why things do/don't work. Great listen and would recommend any parent (or individual who works/interacts with children) listen this!
