Publisher's Summary

Ray Dalio, one of the world's most successful investors and entrepreneurs, shares the unconventional principles that he's developed, refined, and used over the past 40 years to create unique results in both life and business - and which any person or organization can adopt to help achieve their goals.

In 1975, Ray Dalio founded an investment firm, Bridgewater Associates, out of his two-bedroom apartment in New York City. Forty years later, Bridgewater has made more money for its clients than any other hedge fund in history and has grown into the fifth most important private company in the United States, according to Fortune magazine. Dalio himself has been named to Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Along the way, Dalio discovered a set of unique principles that have led to Bridgewater's exceptionally effective culture, which he describes as "an idea meritocracy that strives to achieve meaningful work and meaningful relationships through radical transparency". It is these principles, and not anything special about Dalio - who grew up an ordinary kid in a middle-class Long Island neighborhood - that he believes are the reason behind his success.

In Principles, Dalio shares what he's learned over the course of his remarkable career. He argues that life, management, economics, and investing can all be systemized into rules and understood like machines. The book's hundreds of practical lessons, which are built around his cornerstones of "radical truth" and "radical transparency", include Dalio laying out the most effective ways for individuals and organizations to make decisions, approach challenges, and build strong teams. He also describes the innovative tools the firm uses to bring an idea meritocracy to life, such as creating "baseball cards" for all employees that distill their strengths and weaknesses and employing computerized decision-making systems to make believability-weighted decisions. While the book brims with novel ideas for organizations and institutions, Principles also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision making that Dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they're seeking to achieve.

Here, from a man who has been called both "the Steve Jobs of investing" and "the philosopher king of the financial universe" (CIO magazine), is a rare opportunity to gain proven advice unlike anything you'll find in the conventional business press.

    "Best book yet."

Ray dalio is probably single handly my favorite investor..If your heroes consist of Owen Cook to Tony Robbins to Edward Thorp. This man is very relatible. Granted he's a very financially successful person. But I promise you if you skip the first part of the book you may never know how truly enlightened this individual is. By far he is an epitome for heroism yet as humble as you and I. If you want to read a book that will leave a whisper in the wind dont let this one go. This man does not need your royalties. I believe he wrote to this book for the shear fact that his drum beat. And Ray heres to not dying with that music inside you... And to anyone else out there in the world who is new or old to self help. What comes out of you is whats inside. This is my 35th book this year and I am greatful for this contribution... If you want to experience more of these stop by tony robbins page and check out MONEY:MASTER THE GAME..and UNSHAKEABLE. Thank you ray I hope someday I am as spiritually enlightened and financially successful as you are so i can give back to to the world as you have today.

Self help is the real compound interested. 13 years in self help now i can say one thing for sure. That is every year i grow 200% more. That is financially, emotionally, and physically i know5 i did 33% as well before. Thats my 9/3rd mentallity but realistically i aim for 12/3rd and sometime you can hit that mark but can you hit it consistantly. This book is one of many you must powerhouse through but the education is only 1/10 of what is required. Remember the 9/10ths is you taking action.

What really drew me in was his references to the selfish gene and his eckart tolle destroy the ego and pain is gain mentallity. But its the truth. Experimentally the more sh** you go through the better you become. if your not in it youll never win it. of course i knew his mentallity prior to this book it was ever more confirmed that when you take the effort to grow spiritually through reading and experimetation. growth is inevitable with of course a backwards engineering approach on your mistakes. The fact he understands that when you can eliminate that poor little me in your head mentallity inspires me to know as i am on my path and purpose. Every failure is a brick in your castle.
