Publisher's summary

With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it's no wonder so many parents and teachers are at a loss about how to bring up boys. Our culture has vilified masculinity, and as a result boys are suffering. Parents, teachers, and others involved in shaping the character of boys have many questions. In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, America's most trusted authority on family issues, tackles these questions and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of biblical principles. Bringing Up Boys is a must-hear book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, and counselors—anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.

Be the example...

This book is a good reminder that old fashioned values are good. I agree with the author that society has lost many of these values. This book was written years ago, yet its true...the elementary school produces several reading books about strong girls, and I’ve yet to see one about strong boys that aren’t goofy.

Great Insight

I enjoyed this book...Christian parents have a challenging job for sure as the enemy wants desperately to get our boys off track. Many will think the book is “old school” but I would challenge that thinking as we’re to be in the world, but not of it and as the culture declines we must find ourselves further from it, not sliding down with it. We need a heart for people and the lost, but must raise our kids very differently than the unbeliever. What Dr. Dobson shares is challenging and very helpful!

Wisdom for the Mature Mind

Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom. If you live in reality, this book will ring true. If you are easily offended by truth, then perhaps raising boys is not your thing.

I wish every parent would listen to this

Refreshing re-centering on what matters most. Dr. Dobson helped me to respect and appreciate the uniqueness of little boys. I have always felt raising children was a central priority for parents, but a I hadn't realized how pivotal our role is in our little sons' lives. Would your family be better off with the life insurance payout or with you at home, Dad? There's no question. Dads and moms being present and actively involved in a child's life is irreplaceable. This book and Dr. Dobson outlined that in a thousand ways. A must read (or listen, in this case).

Thank you Dobson

Good solid book on how to raise boys, in a tough environment of anti masculinity. I notice bad reviews are done twice and obviously didn’t read the book or they would have seen the obvious support and admiration he expressed for single moms.

Everyone raising boys needs to hear this!

It may be 20 years old but this is eye opening and still relevant to the struggle of today's growing boys.
