Story
After Eric Davis spent over 16 years in the military, including a decade in the SEAL teams, his family was more than used to his absence on deployments and secret missions that could obscure his whereabouts for months at a time. Without a father figure in his own life since the age of 15, Eric was desperate to maintain the bonds he'd fought so hard to forge when his children were young - particularly with his son, Jason, because he knew how difficult it was to face the challenge of becoming a man on one's own.

Love is important, but it is respect that is the key to your son's heart. The idea of moms respecting their sons may sound alien to some, but it seems to ignite curiosity across the board. It is easy to relate to the need for all of us to feel a mother's love, but is that the same thing as respect? Even for young boys, the effect of respect is nothing short of astounding when applied properly.

Publisher's Summary
How to raise a godly man in a godless world
Perhaps there has never been a more challenging time to raise children than in today's culture. Parents are having to address challenges that their parents never had to with them. And while the core elements to raising children are the same, parents need wisdom for applying them to this day and age.
That's what this book is about: navigating the times and raising a generation of men on godly principles - sons who are ready, able, and motivated to represent God during their days of sojourning on this earth. Pastor and author Mike Faberez will help parents pass the faith on to their sons, in prayer that the promises of God extend to the third and fourth generations...and beyond.
Parents will be equipped to:
- Envision their son's future every day
- Set his spiritual trajectory
- Build a home that grows godly men
- Address the rebellion in their son's heart
- Prepare him to face the world and contribute to it
- Help their son toward a right view of play and leisure
- Navigate the teenage years
There is an epidemic of grown men with the maturity of young boys. Be a parent who saves your child from prolonged adolescence. Scripture says, "The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him" (Prov. 23:24). Children are a gift from the Lord. Listen to Raising Men, Not Boys to steward the gift of parenting and shepherd your sons to be men of God.

Avoid!
Thank you for wasting my time. This book is a good example of a dominant Anglo Male Christian extremists. Chapter 4 encourages parents to hit their child while you're changing their diapers? Come on now. Then he tries to justify the hitting by saying the state of California allows it. I was not happy with his book. Every little piece of it got worse and worse. Then he commonly refers to Californians as ultra liberal. Very offensive. I would not encourage people to read this book.
