Publisher's Summary

Here is a holistic approach to childbirth that examines this profound rite-of-passage, not as a medical event but as an act of self-discovery. Exercises and activities such as journal writing, meditation, and painting will help mothers analyze their thoughts and face their fears during pregnancy. For use during birth, the audiobook offers proven techniques for coping with labor pain without drugs, a discussion of the doctor or midwife’s role, and a look at the father’s responsibilities. Childbirth education should also include what to expect after the baby is born. Here are baby basics, such as how to bathe a newborn, how to get the little one to sleep, and tips for getting nursing off to a good start. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is a process of continuous learning and adjustment; Birthing From Within provides the necessary support and education to make each phase of birthing a rewarding experience.

Birthing from Within is wonderfully narrated by Camille Mazant. All exercises and activities referenced in the audiobook are included in the supplementary PDF.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Negative birth stories - NOT what you need preparing for birth

I would NOT recommend this book to any pregnant woman. Though I had a few positive takeaways, I felt reading this book to be more detrimental than helpful in my preparations for my upcoming natural birth. The birth stories shared were negative and opposing to what positive principles were shared. I often felt discouraged, worried, or uneasy as I listened to the birth stories, pain descriptions, and negativity.

I feel there are things that can be learned by understanding a different perspective, which is why I listened to the entire book. (Creating birth art for example, super interesting and a good idea!) HOWEVER, I can honestly say that the benefits of reading this book did NOT outweigh the negative vibes. Pick up a different book to prepare for your birth.

Must Read!

this book is such a blessing, I feel so much more prepared for the rest of my pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. my husband got a lot out of it too. she takes a wholistic approach to pregnancy and motherhood. I also liked that she gave me the statistics and descriptions of different options to let me make the decision on what's best for me and my baby.
