When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm.

His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real.

Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Destiny is calling. His grandfather's legacy awaits.

Okay story, but monotone narration

The story was okay, not great. What took me out of it was that the narrator hardly differentiated between the various characters and most of the time I didn’t know which character was speaking.

Reasonable for a formula series

This is another of the sci-fi series formula approach, but it’s not bad. I’m enjoying it enough that I’ll give #2 a try.

Meh... it's fine

I've never read a book that seemed like it was trying so hard to be a Netflix show. the world is pretty cool and interesting. however, or protagonist is kinda boring and surrounds himself with boring people.

it is fine. I listened to the whole thing. it isn't so much one story as several episodes in a longer story. Try the Bobiverse. you'll like it better.

The narrator is just OK. Not great, but fine.

Monotonous voice.

This story gets an ok from me. I struggled so much just to stay focused on the story because the reader was SOOO boring. I am not even sure it's fair for me to leave a review on the story itself as the reader may have made the story that much worse!

fun space opera

This is a very fun book, with practically no science in it, just great "science" fiction. When Van returns to his childhood home after his grandfather's death, he inherits more than the family farm. Raised by his grandfather after the death of his parents, Van grew up on fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses, and galactic knights. Little did he realize that his grandfather's tales were more than fiction. They were real.

Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

In true pulp-fiction sci-fi style, it doesn't take Van long to accept that humanity is not alone, and with the futuristic alien tech of injecting him with all the knowledge, memories, and skills he needs to be a starship pilot and a galactic police officer, Van sets off on his adventures.

This is a fun space opera, and I highly recommend it for true escapism sci-fi. It's not high literature, but it sure is fun! Jeffrey Kafer does a great job of narration on this audiobook. I've heard him before, although at the moment I don't recall which books, but he's right up there with the top male narrators of all time.

Interesting concept

For a young adult this is probably a pretty good book anyone older who has any background in science-section this is not well thought out but it’s very well read and the concept is it’s good

Just fun!

I really didn’t expect to like this book, but I hadn’t read a SciFi book in awhile. What a wonderful surprise! This was a really fun experience, starting with the discovery of the barn that was really a space port!
