Publisher's summary

“Queens don’t cry, that’s for princesses".

Visions, it seems like everyone is having them. Anne, Murder, and Levi all share a vision across the Atlantic Ocean and 485 years. Time and space are crying out, London is calling. The future is in peril, Alice Noble...An impossible structure...New York is burning...

In the past?

Anne is facing her own execution and the peril of yet another stillborn child. Only the Boleyn Triumvirate hold the power that could save her and the unborn Alice, but will Mary and George cooperate? Can Mary be trusted?

In the present?

Time traveler “Eustace Black” may very well be the mouthpiece of the Holy Roman Empire. Tress is charged with figuring out his plan so The Nobles can go to London to meet the tragic and mysterious “watchmaker”. The only magic user who can help them get to the truth.

Murder must face her past once more, up close and in person, as she races the clock to find out what really happened to her mother.

London calling yes I was there too, and you know what they said? Well, some of it was true.

Series overview:

We have existed in the shadows of your world for all of history. The blessed, the cursed, the mages and the witches. Sometimes you choose to ignore us. Sometimes we cover it up. We keep our heads down, lest you lot make them roll.

A truly worthy sequel with a stellar performance!

A.C. Merkel draws you into Lady Dreamscapes's world immediately. There is beauty, intrigue, romance, and adventure. The characters feel real and each feels fleshed out.

Jamie's performance is absolutely stellar! Each character has his/her own voice and style. With various accents, it's incredible how well she handles it all. She makes getting the audiobook well worth it! Bravo!

The story builds well off Her Name Is Murder and goes in a very different direction than its predecessor. I throughly enjoyed the tale and think fans of the first will love this. Highly recommended!

Amazing Series Defies Genre

This is the second book in a series that defies genre. This book has everything: speculative historical fiction that bends but doesn’t break the rules of time-travel, paranormal, immortals that aren’t vampires, romantic relationships not confined to gender. I’m incredibly impressed at the depths that this story takes as we follow our heroine Murder from Tudor England to not too far in the future NYC. Timelines bend, merge and diverge without confusing the reader. A good amount of “timey-wimey” Dr. Who references made me smile more than once. The attention to details in both history and women’s issues was especially appreciated. The various issues surrounding romantic relationships between men and women, m/m, w/w are handled with tremendous amount of sensitivity and respect. I highly recommend this book. The narrator is outstanding and adds to the storytelling. I can’t wait for book 3 to see where this incredible world-building is going to take us. I’m invested in these characters.

An enthralling continuation of the Lady Dreamscapes series

Even better than the first! Merkel’s writing style really shines throughout the novel as he draws us further into his fantasy world. He does an excellent job of expressing the different personality traits and motivations for a wide cast of characters who have really come into their own in this book. Time travel, magical realism, historical fantasy, romance, this series has something for every reader without it seeming overdone or excessive. The narrator Jaimee again did a beautiful job balancing all the accents and emotions of the characters which really takes the story to the next level. Well worth the read!
