Good love story. Not great historical fiction
Not great ‘historical fiction’ but it was a good love story. I thought the modern romance story line was pretty weak, and the characters didn’t have much depth.
For those complaining about the narration I would compare the ‘historical’ narratio to classic films like Gone with the Wind or Casablanca.

Pleasantly Surprised!
I’ve never read this author before and had no idea what to expect other than romance. I was pleasantly surprised to see the depth and various twists and turns through the story. I found it to be a unique plot that doesn’t follow the script of those I am used to!
