Strong female, main character

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It seemed to have a fresh take on paranormal relationships. It had a slow burn, and I liked that the main female character was strong and not whiny.

I loved this book! And the narrator was fabulous! She IS Sam!! She truly brought her to life.

What a great story!!

ok, so this book has come across my feed before but it always came across as one of those stupid books where the clueless and too stupid to survive females talks endlessly about the male leads hot abs and the book is a disguise to be just smut (not anything wrong with that if that's your jam). I was out of books to read and figured I'd at least try it. Holy cow!! What a fantastic story! Sam is kickass! She is scarred, inside and out but she is rebuilding herself. It's amazing to see the rebuilding. When the tension between Clive and Sam started, I was clenching my teeth, expecting the inevitablely contrived and stupid misunderstandings to start just to try and create friction and stupid plot. None of that happened. There was tension and there was tenderness. There was plenty of humor. There was growth in the mc. It really was a good story. I immediately used up my credits on the next 2 and on payday, I am buying more credits to buy the rest of the series.

If you are an abuse survivor, Sam was a victim. She obviously survived. Better yet, she overcame and was taking her life back. Just know that its there to decide if its something you can handle.

Performance deserves 10 stars!

Samantha Desz brought the heroine to life. Her voice reflected all of the facets of Sam Quinn---snarky, sardonic, and vulnerable. Just brilliant.

The story was good, too, though the heroine kept making poor choices that put her in danger. I especially loved the creative world building; I really want to go to the Slaughtered Lamb Bookstore & Bar. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. More audiobooks, please!!

Loved it! Great characters and great storyline. I could most definitely stick with this series!
