A fantasy world with magical creatures including pixies, dragon shifters, mage's, & witches. A remarkable written & developed novel with a fabulous plot twist. The synopsis of this novel is enticing & the story begins in a captivating way. The world building description's are very detailed & well defined. Lead character is strong, feisty, & well defined. Supporting characters give a great comic relief. I'm am hooked on this series. This is the beginning of a fantastic ya urban fantasy series that I am looking forward to listening to the next novel in this Urban Fantasy series.

Narator Jacq Ainsworth performance was astounding.

Good story

I loved the story, did not enjoy how the narrator repeated the same sentence....more than once during the story. But the story itself is cute and I can’t wait to get into the next one...

Loved the book and audiobook is fantastic. Author is one of my favorites. Narrator did a fantastic job also.

Wonderful fantasy of dragons! Loved the way a young girl ,who people make fun of. She became stronger for it! Narrator makes the story!

A Character to cheer for .............

It is a very engaging story that keeps you listening to see what happens next. There are moments that will make you cheer and some that will make you gasp. You get all ranges of the spectrum in this story. Once you start you will come back until you get to the end.

This book was wonderful. I truly loved the author’s detail in describing the setting, and the city of Rivenna. Astri is a great main character, and kept me entertained throughout. She has been through so much, and is a great example of survival and achievement despite obstacles. I’m excited to watch her grow, and strengthen throughout the series, and hope to see her start taking chances and believing in herself more and more. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great start

Great start to the beginning of a new series. I really enjoyed the characters and hope to get to listen to more of this series at a later date. The narrator did a wonderful job bringing the story to life

Great narration, good plot, bad Fmc, hurried end

This is the biggest ratings spread I've ever given to an audio book. Jacq's narration is just about flawless; no room for improvement in what I heard. There's a decent plot, but I don't understand why Astri has to be presented as an easily-bullied complaining doormat throughout the story. Nor why Jorgen seems to vacillate between being a villain and trying to become a good guy. Jacq's narration wasn't why I got to the point of not caring about what happens to the main characters.

I don't like to beat someone up blindly, but it seems to me that the editor of the e-book didn't actually earn their compensation. And that may be why the line editor/proofreader lost interest by about half way through the novel.

I'm not going to write Joanna off for any future novels, but I will look very carefully at Kindle reviews before shelling out for a commute-time audio book based on her work.
