Publisher's Summary

A troubled past.

A dying guardian.

The fate of a fantasy realm rests in the hands of a mortal girl.

Laura used to believe in fairy tales and true love. Not after her mom took her own life; the bitter end to a once promising romance. But the arrival of a mysterious guardian proves the fairy tale world does exists, and it needs her help to stop the unholy forces that seek to destroy it. As Laura journeys to find the way home across strange kingdoms of mechanical soldiers, a mad king, a fairy tale prince and more, she soon learns of the mysterious connections between her and the fantasy realm. To survive it, she must face her deepest fears and secrets she never wants to unveil.

The Torn Fairy is a YA action/adventure fantasy/romance, a romantic Alice in Wonderland coupled with the deep themes of A Monster Calls. Fans of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms will also fall in love with the parallel world of Illiros and its magic.

Unique Fantasy

This was a unique,YA fantasy. It took me awhile to get into the story, however I did finally get into it and did find it interesting. I really liked Mal’s character but couldn’t quite connect with Laura right away. I also kept wanting to shake her and tell her to stop being so belligerent throughout the book. I thought the whole book was quite unique and imaginative though and understood how Laura needed to make this journey. I loved how the author ended the book and also appreciated the epilogue. Ivy Starlight did a wonderful job with the narration. She brought the characters to life and made the story entertaining.

The Torn Fairy

"This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review."

This is a great YA book on fairies and real life issues of a young adult female. The story behind this book kept me listening and wondering what was going to happen next. The narration seemed perfect for all the characters also. I highly recommend the book!

Intriguing and suspenseful

The storyline is quite suspenseful and intriguing but it is a bit predictable as well. There were some parts that did catch me off guard though. The characters are easy to imagine. You get soaked right into the story itself very easily. Well written and narrated. Quite enjoyable. I will definitely continue the series.

Amazing

I love how she progresses through her life in another realm and then returns to make things right. Living a full life with her mom to die and return young with her true love in the other realm. <3 <3 # AudiobookObsessions

sorry, just didn't care for it

One, what the heck, was there a word count goal with this story??? found myself not paying attention A LOT on this one due to the droning on. SECOND, this audio version: You need a better editor. at least 4x's where the story was clipped back together with the words being repeated.

A fairytale of a listen

This is my first listen by both the author and narrator. This is like a retelling of a fairytale, or for people who believe in fairy’s bringing true love .
This story will grab you from the get go and have you dream of true love and a happy ending .
Heroine is Laura. Hero is Mal.
Laura has given up on the notion of finding true love after seeing earth giving up and slowly destroying itself . She feels useless and weak . Luckily Mal sees her and takes her to his kingdom. Laura starts seeing true love there and how people act towards each other . That’s when her spirit and outlook turns around . That is a great story that shown never to give up

Ivy performance was good. Her voice is strong and clear

A good story overall

I did thoroughly enjoy this story for the most part, although I found the ending a little odd. All in all though a very good story with a beautiful romance. The setting was enchanting and rich as the journeyed through the world trying to put it back together.

Standalone Story

Standalone Story.

When Laura is pulled into an alternate world by a real prince, she cannot believe that she isn't dreaming. Speaking with a woman in a mirror tops the cake in her fantastical day, that is until her prince leaves her with the mirror lady. The woman tells her that Laura is the only one who has the ability to save the kingdom, just before empty suits of armor attack. The armor wraiths smash the mirror and Laura cannot stay to protect her. After the prince realizes their loss to the army of empty soldiers, the two are captured. Can they survive captivity and still manage to save the kingdom?

If you're looking for a fantastic tale of parallel universes and magical knights, this is the book for you.

I enjoyed the story

Do you believe in true love?
The storyline was interesting, great character and world building, It has an Alice In Wonderland vibe to it, but it was different.
Laura and Mal’s characters were likeable; I felt that the audience got to know them very well. This was full of action, fantasy and fairytales. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The narration was okay, it did keep distracting me with scratchy noises on the audio from time to time, maybe narrator was too close the the mic?

What a Surprise!

I am floored! I didn't expect to enjoy this so much! The story was great and so was the narration. I wasn't familiar with Ivy's work, but she is fantastic. This didn't feel like eight hours. The character development was spot on and fantastic.
