Publisher's Summary

First the floods consumed the Earth.

Then the Syndicate took everything from me.

My childhood, my first love — my humanity.

Before I was born, the rising oceans consumed the last land on Earth. All I’ve ever known is a fight for survival. But the Syndicate wants to change this, genetically adapting children to fit this harsh new world — no matter how many lives are sacrificed in the process.

When little, I was ripped from my home to take part in the Syndicate's cruel experiments. But I broke free. Now, at the age of 17, I'm hunted for my unique ability to thrive beneath the ocean's depths, but also because I rescue others held captive by the Syndicate.

Every day is a predictable struggle, the same watery grave of fears. Everything changes on a routine patrol of a Syndicate vessel, however, when I stumble across two people — a highly sought-after prisoner who was designed to be more powerful than myself and a young man from my past, one my heart never forgot.

These two ghosts from my past will most likely jeopardize all the work I’ve achieved against the Syndicate. But I can’t leave them behind. Even if I lose everything in saving them, including my very life.

Reckless is a dystopian adventure packed with action, romance, and wonder. Listeners who enjoyed The Lunar Chronicles and Red Queen will love this epic young adult series.

Note: Reckless is a re-brand of the novel, NeverSea with improved editing and adjusted character naming.

"interesting story, good elements"

I could honestly do without the love story in this series. the elements of the story are smashing without it and keep you gripped into what will happen next. The love story on the other hand, turns our badass female lead into a wallowing Juliet that feels totally out of character.

performance of the actors reading the story were pretty good. I would have rather the female voices make up for the female characters during the male chapters - the female voices the male actor used were just ok and could have been greatly enhanced.

is it worth it? Yep, definitely. I got this one as part of a review program and I'm going to buy the next one.

Terran Seas Chronicles 1

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Sela, Jack and her sisters were under the control of Nerissa, a scientist determined to save humanity for the rising waters at any cost. That meant stealing children to experiment on them in any way she felt was necessary. Jack was given the ability to fly while Sela was cursed with gills to breath underwater. Many experiments failed injuring or killing the subjects. When Sela was eleven years old she was determined to save her sisters from possible death so when Jack found a way out he was willing to take Sela, but she stayed behind to save her sisters, Unfortunately, Marius, Nerissa’s stepson and Sela’s crush decided to stay behind causing her to stun him and his father before getting her sisters to safety. Years later, the girls are trying to take out one syndicate ship at a time when Sela runs across Marius and Jack under guard. They know the only way to stop Nerissa’s cruel tests is to take her out, but they will need more help if they have a chance to succeed.

This was a fast paced audio-book that held me spellbound until the very end. I for one can’t wait to find out what happens next in the Sea Terran Chronicles.

Good story. I hope the heroine gets bolder in book 2

Great narration, awesome idea for a story. I just kinda hope the main female lead toughens up in the second book. She has such an awesome ability I wish there was more focus on it.

Reckless

Water has covered all the lands of earth, and the syndicate now wants to make people better equipped to live this way by genetically modifying them, but first they need to test the mods on little kids as they will take to the new changes much easier. Some of the kids now in their teens break free and are now being hunted by the syndicate.

This is a suspenseful and action full book, with wonderful characters just waiting for their story to be devoured by readers. If you happen to get the audio version you will love the tag team performance by narrators Aimee Smith and Nicholas Cain, they transform you to the world of water and you become one of the hunted with Sela , Jack and their friends trying to help them at every turn. Reckless is a rebrand book but to those of us new to the world of water this I hope is just the beginning.

A Fantastic Dystopian/Fairytale Retelling Mash-up!

I really enjoyed the Peter Pan/Little Mermaid mash-up with a Dystopian twist plot! This is definitely not quite the fairy tales that you remember, but it's every bit as enjoyable as the original or Disney-fied version of the fairy tales. I got sucked into all the action, adventure, drama, humor, mystery, and romance that kept me invested in the story, and characters, that were relatable in their hopes and fears and vulnerabilities. The narrators were also great! Although, I preferred the girl narrator over the guy. Mostly because, she seemed to have more range of emotions and voices in her narration. Overall, I really liked the book and the interesting merge of two fairy tales you wouldn't think would go together--but surprisingly, are amazing in this book! I'm definitely looking forward to listening you the next book in the series!

A good listen for young people

After finishing the first book I felt sceptical about this one. I think that the story was great but some good opportunities for character development was missed by focusing on a very boring love angle. I really wish that the whole fantasy world was just a bit more developed. However I can see why people would enjoy it. I think maybe it was just a bit young and I would recommend it to my younger sister.

Good start to a series

I have read a few Jenetta Penner books. This one is good with a good story. I do prefer some of her other books but the narrators are very good at bringing the story to life.
A world where there is barely any land. Where scientist modify humans to survive but should they?

Really interesting

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

This has been a really interesting fast paced dystopian world full of interesting characters. Really kept me hooked from the beginning. The description of this flooded world and each civilisation was done well and the character development kept me fully engaged with the story. Definitely will look to read the next book in future.
