A truly intriguing tale

Endora believes she is just another high school girl with family drama. She meets a mysterious boy and her world begins to change. I really loved the world building in this book. Can’t wait to find out what Endora is and if she can save Kaydon. Join Endora’s hunt for answers. Kate Richardson does a great job with the narration on this fantastical tale. Can’t wait for more.

Awesomely Clean Story

This book is suitable for younger teens, as well as adults. It has a great plot that captures your interest and holds it from beginning to end. The storyline flows smoothly and the characters are well defined.

Kate Richardson has done a great job keeping the various character vocals separate and clear. She flowed through the narration just as smoothly as the storyline. There were no noticeable mistakes or repeats detected.

An all around great book and audiobook and I highly recommend as an historically and mythologically oriented fantasy!

Great Beginning

I became invested in Endora's story pretty quickly. The story unfolds at a nice easy pace. The narrator does a great job bringing the story and characters to life. Pawn leaves you with so many unanswered questions so I can't wait book 2

Enthralling teen romance mystical adventure

First off, I'm by no means a teen and I really enjoyed listening to this book. The story is nicely complex and the characters well drawn with characters emerging richly as the story unfolds. Mixing Greek mythology into her own twists, the author Sophie Davis takes us on a captivating tale of teenage self-discovery where myth penetrates real lives and real life dramas mix themselves up into the mystical world causing the seams to start to tear a bit at the edges.
I find it fascinating how narrators manage a variety of voices and Kate Richardson does a good job here though all the male voices speak just noticeably slowler and it made me aware it must be quite challenging to get that deep voice...but she does a great job and you get a definite feeling that each character is speaking in their own voice which really adds to the listening experience.
You're left with a definite cliffhanger at the end - well, it's a series tale and this one had me reaching for the next book
I was given a promo code for an honest review of this book

Great YA/Mythology series!!

Pawn is the first book in the Shadow Fate series by Sophie Davis.
This book is YA/Greek mythology. It truly stands apart from other mythology books I have read. The story mainly focuses on Endora and the premonitions she suddenly sees shortly after turning 18. She meets Kaydon during her birthday bash at the lake. Was it perfect timing or a coincidence as to when they met. Endora aka Eel discovers she’s not the only person with her gifts and we go on a mystery ride to learn more about her gifts.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Got book 2, cued up and ready to go!

The narrator, Kate Richardson was okay. I liked her voice for Eel but when she would narrate other female voices she would use a high pitch voice and it would just take away from the story.

YA mythology themed story with twists and secrets

Get ready for a story to pull you in right away. After turning 18 Endora starts to have premonitions. She meets Kaydon and he opens up a world of secrets she never knew about herself and her family. We go on an adventure with her learning the truth. This young adult story had twist after twist and the ending just made me need more. I couldn't start book two fast enough. I can't give too much detail because there are so many surprises, it would ruin the experience. This narrator was the perfect voice for this story. I forgot that it was one person for all characters. If you love mythology, you will adore this book.
