Publisher's Summary

From USA Today best-selling author of The Highland Fling comes a brand new romantic comedy about a desperate billionaire seeking to find a fiancée. This modern day take on Pretty Woman is brilliantly clever and hilariously pause-resisting.

How did you two meet?

The quintessential question asked to every couple. And the answer is usually some bubbly, lovey dovey tale of being struck in the bum by Cupid’s arrow.

My meet cute (well, not so meet cute) is slightly different. I was trolling a wealthy neighborhood in Beverly Hills, searching for someone to take me as their bride, you know, to make my arch nemesis jealous who consequently just fired me.

He was stomping around the block like some sort of gorgeous ogre, mumbling about a business deal gone wrong and attempting to finagle his way out of it.

And that's when we bumped into each other.

There were no sparks.

Not even a hint of blossoming love.

But next thing I knew, I was scarfing down free chips and guac, listening to this man lay out all of his problems which led to his big ask...he wanted me to be his Vivian Ward, you know, from Pretty Woman - minus the frisky behavior.

We're talking about living in a mansion, intimate double dates, and pretending we were head over heels in love...and engaged. Can you imagine?

The absolute audacity.

But people do crazy things when they’re desperate. And I reeked of desperation. So, I struck up a deal.

My one big mistake, though...big...HUGE? I accidentally fell for the incomparable Huxley Cane.

Irrationally combative FMC

I could not get over the amount of stubbornness coming from the FMC! Look, the story was cute. I enjoyed the lack of angst as far as no secrets from the get go. He later his cards on the table about everything from the beginning. I blame him a little for the last 45 mins of the book, he was so sure she didn’t do it, but then he came home and pointed fingers.. but her.. not only did she act like a child and run.. then when she showed up for the apology meeting she didn’t even let him talk… grr so stupid. Not sure if I would recommend this book. The last 45 mins ruined the book for me.. that is in addition to the beginning where she frustrated me even more!! It was her plan in the beginning then she plays hard to get? Immediately then she is combative. I wonder if he would have been such a jerk in the beginning had she not acted like a child.

Sooo Good

In typical Colleen Hoover fashion, she slays! I usually reserve audiobook time for when I'm working, I'm a baker. However, I was so into this story that I kept my earbuds in and devoured it as quickly as I could. Great story! Well, off to find another...

Another cute and funny Romantic Comedy by Meghan Quinn. While Fake Relationships aren't really my trope, this one had me giggling a lot, especially when we meet Judith! With these characters, I feel like they swapped sides for me a lot, at first I thought he was a complete Jerk and she was an airhead but then I started to see his softer side and she showed a little of her jerk side too. I liked that they both had a few layers to them. If you are looking for something that will make you laugh and is also pretty steamy this is the book for you!

The narration was good. I like both Aaron and Ava's work.

A feast for the soul!

Not So Meet Cute was a feast for the soul! As another comedic gem was penned by Quinn, this one surprisingly also brings an unexpected and welcomed emotional punch.

Erickson, a narrator I always love listening to, pulled at my heartstrings. Her performance gave the adorable, and real character of Lottie, so much charm and spunk, she really made the character come to life.

If you love to read Quinn's work or are new to her writing, this is a must read title. It is sure to give you all the feels!

As Always, Happy Reading!

One of the best listens of 2021

Ava Erickson and Aaron Shedlock did a fantastic job with the narration on this fun, entertaining story. They brought the characters and their e journey to life and for me up this is one of the best listens and best reads of 2021.

I didn’t stop smiling from the moment I picked up A Not So Meet Cute, I was drawn in to Huxley Cane and Lieselotte ( Lottie) Gardener’s story from the first few pages and there was no putting down until I had read the final word and even then I wanted more. Everything about this book was entertaining from the texts to the witty banter but it was watching these two strangers form a contract that eventually took them into a romance that took this book to another level. Huxley is looking to close a business deal and he needs help and it seems fate has put Lottie in his path just at the right time because she also finds herself in a bit of a predicament, so could this business agreement be a win win for both of them…… This is the Queen of rom com at her best, I laughed till I cried, I swooned and I sighed as I fell for this adorable couple. F you are looking for an entertaining read that will leave you smiling look no further than this perfect read. Huxley and Lottie will certainly be joining my best reads and listens of 2021.

Well Narrated Romantic Comedy

Life got in the way for me for a while but I FINALLY read Meghan's latest book. A Not So Meet Cute was a great play on the pretty woman fake relationship scenario. Huxley is our Hero, a self made man running a realtor business with his two brothers. He gets himself into a situation to impress a potential client and agrees to dinner and he has to bring a long his pregnant fiancé. However Huxley's doesn't have a fiancé at all let alone a pregnant one.

Introducing Lottie our heroine who after being screwed over she is on the lookout for a man to make her look good an upcoming high school reunion and literally bumps into Huxley. They have a bit of an enemies to lovers vibe to begin with and agree to help each other out, faking their relationship. What I loved was Lottie's Sass. When it came to Huxley's stern business persona keeping him closed off, she knew exactly how to push his buttons.

There were plenty of laugh out loud moments, great secondary characters with Lottie's sister and Huxley's brothers leaving me wanting more of this new world Meghan is crafting. The situation Lottie and Huxley found themselves in while trying to fake a pregnancy had me in stitches, then there were beautiful moments where these two characters broke down each others walls and connected.

A Not So Meet Cute is a well paced, well developed Romantic Comedy. Whether you read or listen via Audiobook it's one you can enjoy however you prefer to get you romance fix. Aaron Shedlock and Ava Erikson play Huxley and Lottie perfectly, I really enjoyed the Audio and found them to be the perfect pairing for this book. Matching Lottie's fiery side and Huxleys brooding businessmen exactly how I thought when I read the ebook. I look forward to seeing more from this series in the future.

Delightful!

Delightful! OMG!! This Romantic Comedy is so sweet, hilarious, and heartwarming! This definitely is one of my favorite stories written by Meghan Quinn. Huxley and Lottie are opposites attract, and they complement each other. I like their banter. They are hilarious and perfect together! Lottie is funny, and adorable. Huxley is serious, workaholic, and enigmatic. I liked the fantastic humor, and the sweet romance. This is an amazing enemies-to-lovers, fake fiancé, and slow burn romance. Aaron Shedlock and Ava Erickson did an outstanding job with the narration. They are perfect as Huxley and Lottie! I love their voices together. If you like Romantic Comedy, this one is definitely for you. I enjoyed it, and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Outrageous Antics and a fun story

Lottie and Huxley's not so meet cute is a series of ridiculous events, a fake relationship, imaginary baby, all to secure a business deal. This is a fun story, starts out as a fake relationship and quickly turns enemies to lovers, though there is a slow burn. SO maybe quickly turns enemies and the lovers come later. Huxley is described as Alpha and he is definitely a take charge kind of guy and Lottie definitely enjoys it.

This book has some outrageous antics, the pregnancy classes they attend were hysterical, and I really felt that all the loose ends in the book were tied up by the end. I absolutely love the cover, it is so vibrant and, well cute.

I struggled a little with consent in this book, there was some implied consent, but also some moments where I felt like I would have preferred enthusiastic and active consent. I also find a lot of the drama in a fake relationship trope is created by the characters and avoidable. While this is the case for A Not So Meet Cute, I found the issues resolved quickly and I very much enjoyed that they did not drag on.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Ava Erickson who brought Huxley and Lottie to life. I am really curious if they were able to read some scenes with a straight face or if they needed a few takes.

Overall this was a fun story and audiobook and a nice escape.

I received an ARC and ALC of this book and voluntarily give my review.

Lottie and Huxley!

Huxley is focused on the business that he and his brothers created as they have a lot of employees who depend on them. His attempts to close a business deal aren’t progressing as well as he would like until he advises his counterpart that not only is he engaged but they are expecting a baby and now he just needs to find a woman to play the part.

Lottie has spent the last year doing everything she can to ensure the success of the business owned by her nemesis only to be discarded without a thought. She has no income, massive student debts and her parents believe that she moving out. While lamenting her situation she runs into Huxley and after a little convincing they decide that a fake relationship will fill both their needs.

Lottie and Huxley are so different both when it comes to where they are in their lives and their personalities. Bit by bit she breaks through his walls, and he shows a part of himself that she can’t resist while he is drawn to her fun and feisty personality. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought out the witty banter, hot chemistry and the relationship between the characters.

Great Listen!

I'm always down for a Meghan Quinn listen. The title lead me to believe that this was going to be a sweet story. What I wasn't expecting was the sexy AF content and it was an an amazing surprise. Lottie & Huxley's chemistry was smoking hot from the get go and continued through the whole story! Awesome fake engagement story! Ava Erickson & Aaron Shedlock did an amazing job narrating. I hope that Meghan uses them to narrate future books as well.

There is a fine line between love and hate

All my favourite tropes wrapped up in one fun read. Who doesn’t love enemies to lovers, fake romance? Add in a super rich businessman (1 of 3 super fun, super sexy brothers), and a no holds barred heroine. I love female characters who hold nothing back, have no filters and know how to out a man in his place, and Lottie Gardener is just that lady. Then we have Huxley Cane, he was so straight and methodical, focussed only on his business and his brothers, he was not looking for ‘more’ when he met Lottie, but even he wasn’t immune to her sweet charms. I loved his dry sense of humour, and once he came out of that rock he was buried under he was so funny (not that he was trying to be). Together they were perfect. The story was a super fun, super cute enemies to lovers fake romance. You want some lighthearted fun! This is the book for you. I also listened to the audio version, and let me tell you. Aaron Shedlock had Hux down to perfection, especially good with the dirty talk if I don’t say so. Both Ava Erickson and Aaron played their parts, and the parts of other characters beautifully. The story just got funnier and funnier, I had a permanent smile on my face throughout.

Fabulous listening experience

Ava and Aaron delivered a beautifully narrated story.
Huxley and Lottie were a hilarious train wreck to begin with.
The hate was strong, along with the sexual tension.
As their “relationship” progressed, naturally, the feelings did too.
Their not so meet cute turns into so much more than they could have ever expected.

We were gifted with a level of snark and banter I have never experienced before in a story.
Their were plenty of laughs, lots of steam, and I was also a bundle of nerves during parts of this story.
I loved the characters, the dynamics between family members, the crazy friendships that evolved, and the warm fuzzies I got.

Absolutely fabulous listening!

A Fabulously Delightful RomCom & Listen🎧📚🎧

This is a fabulous romantic comedy and I loved everything about it, from Meghan Quinn’s wonderful writing style to the amazing characters and storylines she created to the perfectly cast narrators who bring it all to life from the pages to your ears. The characters are realistic, relatable, easy to connect with and care about, I absolutely adored both lead characters, Huxley Cane and Leiselotte “Lottie” Gardener, the secondary characters were great too and added a lot to the story. Huxley wants to land a real estate deal for the company he runs with his two brothers, but his meeting with Dave, the potential client, does not go well. His brothers remind him his not personable enough and that Dave is more of a down-to-earth person than he is. When he runs into Dave with his pregnant fiancé, he comes up with an idea, show him he is in the same situation and has a pregnant fiancé too. Happy that they bought it hook, line and sinker, but not happy that they invited him and his fiancé to join them for dinner. Oh, oh, now he has to come up with one and quickly too. Lottie took a job working for Angela, an on again, off again friend, a job she excels at and does great things for the company in her first year of employment. Lottie was expecting to be rewarded by Angela, but she gets something else instead, the boot. Not wanting to disappoint her parents or hearing an “I told you so” she comes up with a new plan, find a rich guy to marry and she knows exactly where to go to find one, in wealthiest of neighborhoods. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is an original and beautifully plotted romantic comedies. Meghan Quinn masters the perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and hot loving in this fake fiancé turned real romance. Thank you for another wonderfully entertaining story, all the laugh out loud moments and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, Meghan Quinn could not have chosen a better cast to bring her characters and story to life. Ava Erickson and Aaron Shedlock are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Aaron Shedlock played Huxley’s role with perfection and Ava Erickson did the same for Lottie. They were just as amazing performing the secondary character’s roles, too. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor flawlessly, without missing a beat. Thank you for fabulously another entertaining listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.

definitely worth a listen

This is the first Meghan Quinn book I have listened to and I will definitely keep an eye out for more. I did find that the angst level was a notch above what I can normally tolerate, but the parts of the book that made me cry laughing made up for it. The lamaze class scenes and conversations afterwards were hysterical. The narrators were also new voices for me, but they both did a great job with the story.
